Paul Abdul (American Idol, Forever Your Girl) joins us for (quite possibly) our longest interview with story after story that will leave your jaw dropped. From changing her identity to become a Laker Girl, to being baby-sat by Michael Bolton, to choreographing the Jacksons,to surviving a plane crash, to having a psychic tell her about her future with American Idol years before it aired… Paula shares it all this week! Huge thank you for her openness, especially when it came to our shared experience with spinal injury (and surgeries) and how she never gave up after nearly 2 decades with excruciating pain. Too many good stories in this episode, hope you all enjoy.

So, 15 surgeries on her cervical spine from this fire-consumed plane that crashed in Iowa and forced her to take 7 years off of her career. But she still managed to get to Denver somehow, play that show either the same day or a day later, and then did 19 more shows within 2 months (that involved her dancing and flying in a harness).

Her facial expressions, gestures, posture... all of her body language indicates deception. How unbelievable that she could believe that she could pull off such a whopper of a lie! The FAA stores data on all planes crashes😮 except for Paula's I guess 😅 How did a plane plummet and crash in flames and 6 people survived. Including Paula, even though she wasn't wearing her 💺 seatbelt 😅 And then she "secretly" goes on tour, flying above the crowd on mechanical devices. 😮Ladies and gentlemen, someone call Guinness 😂 She does seem to be impaired, Paula said she was addicted to pills 💊 for 12 years, and that may shed some light on some of this.

I remember this crash because I was working on my biology homework when the news came on and announced that her plan had crashed. Video of the plane wreckage was shown and it was reported that she had been rushed to the hospital. Now why this wasn't bigger story is beyond me because she was definitely in a crash. I can also recall right after this incident that her whole personality had changed and she always appeared to be in pain. Now because I knew she had been in a plane crash I understood why she had stopped performing, looked like she was in pain, and sounded like she was on drugs. I'm happy she made it through the plane crash and is in a better place physically and mentally. I Still play "Cold hearted Snake" and "Opposites Attract" when I'm cleaning.

Do you mind sharing what town/ city you were in and perhaps the name of what the news station was (local or national news), if you can remember, that reported on the crash? Also possibly any other details of where the crash might have occurred? Thanks!

Doesn't matter if it was a private jet or not. The NTSB takes any aviation mishap, let alone a full blown "engine/wing on fire crashed into a field" crash very seriously and there should be a report on it. "It wasn't documented" is nonsense. If there was a plane crash in the US, the authorities are not going to shrug and go "oh well it was a private flight, noone got killed, just clean that wreck outta here and go on about your business, we dont need no reports". I don't know whether she crashed or not, but I do "it wasn't documented" is not credible. If it happened, there should be a report on it, and any supposed NDAs she was able to convince others to sign could be released at her pleasure, if she so wanted.

Yeah she is a chronic liar… the NTSB doesn’t just not investigate plane crashes because the passenger is famous. There would be extensive public records about this crash that would be EASY to find.

I was in the middle of doing homework when the news came on and announced she was in a plane crash out in the middle of nowhere and the showed the crashed plane. Hit was around 5 or 6 pm when the CBS news network made the announcement. They reported the story twice and that was the last I heard of the story. I found it strange that the story wasn't bigger. Now I'm wondering if the plane had been flown illegally. The story was strange because the story didn't have any witness statements and there wasn't much to go on and there wasn't a follow up story.

@@lololee24 Then there would be an NTSB report. If CBS news can find out about it, the NTSB can. They are not going to sweep it under the rug. If it happened, there would be a report from them.

I vaguely remember her being in a plane crash or saying she was in a plane crash but I do remember her abruptly stopping her performances and saying she couldn’t perform because of injuring her neck but I remember, if I’m not mistaken, she said her injury was from a an accident while doing some acrobatic dance moves.

She had a drug overdose, and probably died, but was brought back. She uses this "plane crash" story as a replacement for what actually happened cause figuratively she crashed and burned. She went to the hospital and detoxed. She probably felt so much shame to her ego she came up with the crash story. Those NDAs were probably to the people who treated her and not record her OD episode.

So Merv Griffin's crew heard that a plane went down and that it was Paula Abdul's. And they raced to the scene and rescued them from a corn field? Yeah, makes perfect sense. LOL Why would an emergency rescue team be bothered to go to a plane crash site when Merv's crack crew were on the job? Then she got everyone to sign NDAs? Even the doctors and nurses at the hospital? Wow She needs help

IF true. The date PROBABLY would have been July 10 1992. From St. Louis (??? more to come on this date) going to Denver. She was on her way to Colorado on July 10. July 10 1992 she had a tour date in Pueblo, Colorado at Colorado State Fair Events Center. BUT GET THIS. This show was cancelled, YET she performed at a show somewhere in Chicago, Illinois, Hoffman Estates Poplar Creek Music Theater on July 10 1992. So one show was cancelled, but she did another show in another place on July 10 1992. In another interview she says she had done a show in St. Louis Missouri, and was then on her way to Denver. She states she had just finished onstage, then was off to Denver. Her St Louis, Missouri show was May 19 1992, and her next stop was Nashville for her show on May 21 1992. Her upcoming Denver show that was eventually cancelled was scheduled as I mentioned previously, July 10 1992. And in the other interview she says that she broke through her seatbelt and hit her head on the top of the plane. Whereas here she says she was coming back from the bathroom and climbing over luggage, and she never got to her seat, when the alleged chaos happened.

And no explanation for why she would charter a jet from St. Louis between dates in Phoenix (6/8/1992) and Denver (6/10/1992). It was a private plane or jet, so those don't typically have long layovers many states out of the way of what could have been a much shorter direct flight.

Major touring artists fly right after the show via private jet, that's just what they do. They're not gonna be sitting around waiting on flights, they're going private, period end of story.

She's still telling this story? So it's a plane crash, involving a world famous musician, that doesn't have an NTSB report or ANY news report about it (even local stations, who would jump on the "Paula Abdul crashed near here" story). Riiiiight. I wouldn't even doubt the injuries happening from something else, but a place crash didn't happen.

Like she said, the industry would see her as "damaged goods" so she didn't want to destroy her career by revealing she had a spinal injury. I'm not saying it's right. Rich people are ruthless. They will toss anyone out who they think isn't worth it. It's sad.
@Davaldod
@Davaldod Жыл бұрын
@@eltravos99 Being in the Industry, I can tell you you're 100% correct (and of course, as Abdul said). This business is *merciless* when it comes to these sorts of things. It's not necessarily that some might not think her capable of performing or making money, but there is also the cost of insuring Paula as she performs. If it had ben widely known that she was nursing critical spinal issues (for example), just the cost of supporting her and potential injuries would be a source of discrimination. Performers like her have to be crazily insured when doing live performances (same for TV/film work). Abdul wisely did the only thing she reasonably could do if she wanted to continue her career.
