The 7-note scales of our Scale/Chord relationship are odd and therefore don’t divide well into our 4/4 beat. In this lesson, we’ll learn how jazz resolves this issue by adding an extra note to these scales, turning them into 8-note even scales known as ‘Bebop Scales.’
We’ll also learn to develop our solo using melodic devices instead of scale runs. In this lesson, we are going to develop a phrase using passing tones and enclosures.
