Videographers Stefan Kleeberger and Axel Sarnoch accompanied choreographer Goyo Montero, the artistic partners of the production team, conductor Björn Huestege as well as the ensemble of Ballett Nürnberg during the final rehearsals behind the scenes. Impressive scenes were created in the process, which can be seen in our clip "Insight Goldberg".
Inspired by and created to the world-famous variations of the same name by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Nuremberg ballet director unfolds with his choreography a "book of dreams", so to speak. "Goldberg" is a reflection on the state and realm of sleep and insomnia. Montero researched what exactly happens when a person falls asleep, therefor he has studied the field of sleep research as well as studies and works that deal with the state of sleep or awakening. In respect to the music "Goldberg" is another collaboration with Montero's longterm artistic partner, Owen Belton. The joint vision of both artists was to create a new score by treating Bach's music respectfully, of course, but at the same time attempting to find a new approach to it. In doing so, piano, and live orchestra were combined in a classical arrangement. Further, it is enhanced by Owen Belton's own musical vision.
