Great video! I'm finishing my graduate in automotive engineering and this video helped me to open my mind. Looking forward to the next edition. Thank you.

Thanks Jahee! To me such an insights-series is really valuable and I'm glad you kicked that off. I've got a (maybe) special question for you: When it comes to vehicle dynamics on an OEM level in motorsports I often find that a lot of people have specialized jobs and only a few actually do manage the link of vehicle performance with the construction process. For example suspension kinematics or tire development comes to my mind. Now what I'd like to know is how do you think this topic could be made more accessible for young professionals? Would you recommend starting at a vehicle dynamics service or as you mentioned try to strengthen the link to a racing team where the number of people involved is lower and you can follow a more practical approach to get a better understanding of the total vehicle performance? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work :)

Hi Sebo, If i understand you correctly, i think you mean you'd like to find a position with a broader application of vehicle dynamics rather than a very specialised area? What you usually find is that with bigger companies/teams have more staff which means that each person has a much more specialised and narrow scope of work, so i guess if you're looking for a broader scope, finding smaller consultancies or teams is a good bet for sure as you'll be given more to work on. The smaller the budget, the smaller the team!

Great video! I'm in my final year of Aerospace engineering and I totally agree with unis just giving you a basic foundation in the topic and being up to the student to continue that. I can say I am not looking forward to graduating especially with covid and the current state of the job market. Any advice on getting the first foot through the door without begging for experience 😭

Good to hear it man.. Don’t be too disheartened, the world will always need engineers - this is only a moment. What exactly are you trying to get into?

@@WaveyDynamics so the plan was to get into aerodynamics within motorsport hence studying aerospace engineering as I wanted a more in depth aero/fluid mechanics understanding of the area. But its very hard to get that first bit of experience

@@shoaibmohammed8461 Yeah aerodynamics is tricky.. Are you doing a Masters? Definitely focus on CFD, perhaps take on a few of your own personal projects which you can demonstrate to a potential employer also? I think i do see a few graduate aero roles out there which would be ideal for you.

@@WaveyDynamics Nah Batchelors atm but intend to do a specific masters down the line. And yh using CFD atm in some projects and Formula student.

@@shoaibmohammed8461 yeah keep at, get as much practice in a variety of different cases and find a way to show people. It’ll definitely help.

Bro, I have a doubt. if I choose my master's a motorsport engineering can I work in other automobile sectors except motorsports, because the major base of motorsport is based in the UK. So my question is can be more flexible in the automobile industry rather than motorsport
@WaveyDynamics
@WaveyDynamics 6 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s a little more specialised for sure, but most employers would recognise that much of the course is the same as mechanical engineering. The reality is you will only take a few modules different.

Hey wavey. I am looking for msc in automotive from Hertfordshire. I am curious what your master project was on?? How hard is to find intern after study?? And why we dont hear people looking to work in f2, f3 series??

Hey! My masters project (8 years ago!) was on Formula Student. It’s definitely hard to get some good internships yeah. Lots of students want them and there aren’t enough for everyone! F2 and F3 aren’t talked about so much for three reasons I guess.. 1. There isn’t so much real engineering and design there as the chassis are specified by regulations and bought from a manufacturer (such as Dallara) 2. It’s quite difficult to engineer there as you have to work your way from lower formulas.. still very high level though. Consider it!
