I will never forget hearing “I bomb atomically, Socrates philosophies and hypothesis..” for the first time. My mind was blown. And the whole Wu killed it, but Deck’s verse is just an amazing stand out.

Deck’s known for a good amount of opening verses of the Clan “Protect Ya Neck”, “Guillotine (Swordz)”, “Triumph”, “For Heaven Sake”, etc. But that dude can CLOSE a track on a high note too like “Duel of the Iron Mic” and “Cold World” those verses were NASTY...especially the first one 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

One of, if not the most underrated MC in the game. Deck’s pen game is insane and got flows for days. He unfortunately caught a raw deal with that flood in RZA’s basement which destroyed all the beats to his first solo album. Smh.

For me it tells a lot when you don't even understand the language (as a non-english origin) and you're still blown away just because of the cadence and the rhyming on top of that beat... I learned his verse even I didn't have any idea wtf was going on. It was immediately and still is one of my favorite hip-hop tracks and especially Deck's verse in the beginning!

I love how Talib refers to Deck's verse on Triumph as a Masterclass on Lyricism. I actually think of another song Deck is on as well, Czarface's "Forever People", as a masterclass in lyricism. Inspectah Deck is criminally underrated, his pen game is exemplary.

I love hearin shit like this… how someone felt at the time they were making a masterpiece and what was going on around them. it makes me wanna listen to it again, but now I’m listening to it from a different perspective thinking bout what went into it. Deck’s verse on that is legendary tho fasho.

INS had always dropped incredible rhymes. The cold world rhyme, the Gangstarr verse, even that Pete rock verse. Incredibly flow.

Rollie Fingers is one of the best lyricists ever. He doesn't get the credit he deserves, because The Wu had great MCs all through it, plus some more charismatic characters. But this man's wordplay was so fluid and flawless.

"Triumph" billions of years from now. When our host Sun has went SuperNova. And humanity has settled distant worlds. If there are records that are kept. Triumph will still be regarded as one of the best hiphop records ever to be produced by humankind. Hands down!
