At 15 years old, the enemy knew that you are going to stand in front of many people and he tried to stop it as early as possible. The enemy lost because what he never knew is the very brave Joy inside of you. The amount of opposition and pain you had is equivalent to multiple people you draw to Christ. I thank you Joy for your test that became a testimony for the Lord.I also was a rape victim.In my whole life I been carrying a baggage and resentment toward my abuser even to point that it affected our marriage because I kept it a secret to my husband.I could not tell him the truth because I was afraid that he would judge me.I was a new christian then and my husband as well.We are both growing in our walk.But everytime we had contact with each other as husband and wife I would have that flasback of the abuse and I was so traumatized by the abuse.I never had family to talk to.Thankfully,one day I ask God to give me the courage to tell my husband the truth.And whatever the outcome of my confession I gave it to God.I was amazed of God's amazing grace coz my husband not only he accept me he also did not judge me instead he told me that whatever happened to me is not my fault and what touches my very heart was that he said " I he will love me unconditionally and if I never loved before he will give all his love for me.I thank God that my husband is a very special man that was sent from heaven by our Almighty God.To God be the glory.

My childhood is very Painful. No happiness, No Peace.. God.is so good to me after the Tragedy..Praise the Lord.

Forgiving those who hurt us is a great gift from God...it shows that you allow God's power to shine on you.....your decision to forgive is divine.....God bless you and family...

Thank you for sharing your story miss joy. I was also abused with my uncle, when i was 19 years old. Wala akong pinagsabihan sa nangyari, kasi i feel like, napakadumi kona and nakakahiya sa mga tao Especially sa parents ko, and ayuko din na masira at magulo ang magandang pagsasama ng family at nga relatives ko, i kept it for myself until now that im already 30. Ung uncle ko, nag aact sya na parang nothing happened, at ganun din naman ako, nakikipagusap ako pag kinakausap niya ko, pinapakita ko sa kanya na wala na saakin yun, pero deep inside pagnakikita ko sya bumabalik lahat sa alala ko ang ginawa niyang pananamantala sakin, at kung ano man yung pinapakita ko sa kanya pag kaharap sya ay kabaliktaran ng nararamdaman ko, to the point na gusto ko na siyang mamatay. Pero dahil po sa shinare niyong story, i will try to forgive him,and hayaan nalang po si god, na iclear ang mind at soul niya para d na sya makagawa ng gingawa niya dati at may pabiktima pang iba.

Pastor Peter Tan-Chi's daughter, as well as her friends "Irene" and "Lana", in the early 1990's were reportedly raped in Manila by seven men who were then robbing the Tan-Chi residence (in Antipolo's Valley Golf gated community, of all places!). This incident would have then taken place at around the same time as the Maureen Hultman murder in 1991, and in similar residences, since Hultman lived in the exclusive gated community of Dasmarinas Village, similar to Valley Golf. Further comparison to Maureen Hultman, who had an Irish father, is that Joy Tan-Chi (now Mendoza) has an American mother, that would have made this a high profile crime, and could have gotten strong support from the US embassy. Moreover, "Irene" and "Lana" were from expatriate missionary families from the United States. Even though the Tan-Chi's said the police were able to identify and apparently apprehend at least some of the robbers, their family chose to let it go, to not file a case against them, and just "forgive" them. This was supposedly to protect her from "more emotional damage". Regarding the families of "Irene" and "Lana", did they also just chose to "forgive" the robber-rapists and not file a case against them?? Didn't the Tan-Chi's, as well as families of "Irene" and "Lana", ever even consider that these "robber-rapists" may have victimized others in the past and could victimize others in the future? The "robbery-rape" is a key part of the Tan-Chi's Christian testimony that helped grow the CCF network of churches. Why are there apparently no news articles at around the time reporting the crime? Why are the only visible sources online that the robbery and rape ever happened are the claims of the Tan-Chi's, made many years later? Joy Tan-Chi Mendoza wrote a book ("When a Good God Allows Rape", OMF Publications, 2015) lacking many details of the event. Things just don't seem to add up.
