Thanks for this detailed review, Rob. You helped me decide -- I'll be adding an FT1 to my physical therapy clinic.
@robsgaragewoodworkin7 жыл бұрын
It's good for physical therapy too! See if you can find some small weight plates to sit on top of the stack. It might come with a 1/2 plate that sits on top of the stack when you need it. (mine didn't because it was the floor model). But you may be able to get something even lighter. This could prove useful for physiotherapy. Cheers! Rob

For $500 I got the bench and the inspire fitness FTX in the box for only $500 the last one in the box 📦 it was a mark down. the manager of the store had one left they were $1400 but I got it for $500 saved $900 and I work out on it every day and I can’t wait to work out again and again and again. I waited months just for the mark down.

Great review, this video helped me decide to buy one. I bought one and had it installed yesterday. I hate the carabiner. Wondering where you got replacement carabiners, what size and how much? Thanks much, I want to buy some replacement ones for my gym.
@robsgaragewoodworkin7 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! I hate the carabiners too! They are too small. I haven't actually replaced them yet. You can get carabiners at MEC, Home Depot, Canadian Tire and sometimes at fitness outlets like Fitness Depot or you could try online. There are many great resources online for cool exercises and routines via google and youtube. Enjoy your new machine!

Guys, it is very easy to assemble if you want to save a little $$ and do it yourself. You will need another person to help carry the uprights into the house though. I assembled mine in two hours.

Great review 👍,I just ordered one from fitnesses depot in my area $2288 + tax + shipping and assembly came to a little over $3000 , I’ve ordered in the past lots of machines for a lot less than that, lesson learned, like yourself I want to get on the machine and have little to no issues at all so I can enjoy my workout and look forward to my next one, yes very pricey but remember you always get what you pay for, I unfortunately learned that the hard way and lost money along the way, but I’m very confident with this purchase, tried it with and without the bench and yeah, feels weird using a bench, tou are using this every day , what program are you following, what split do you use, push /pull/legs , total body every day ??? I doubt that , curious to know, thanks for the review.

Thanks Tony! I'm with Arnie about rest days. You rest and repair during sleep (that's why sleep is so important). That said, life gets in the way, so I don't always make it 7 out of 7 days - but I do try! I optimize my workouts for speed. I have few changeovers to slow me down. With the stance on there machine leaning forward with one foot to stabilize yourself I have changed from 3 sets of 12 to 2 sets of 15. 1 set left foot forward and then 1 set right foot forward. I also do 2 body parts per day. Bi's and Tri's, chest and back, shoulders and forearms then I do legs and pull-ups/chinups. So it's a 4 day workout with 3 workout variations and I have dumbbells also with 4 days and 3 workout variations. I do 1 week functional trainer then the next week dumbbells. For cardio I walk the dog. I do my workout then I have a tire for flips and sledgehammering and punching Bob and battle ropes. I do more of a HIIT cardio right after the workout. Here is an almost current version of the gym and it doesn't show the tire, punching Bob or battle ropes which are in the shop. When I moved the equipment was all in pieces for almost 2 years while I worked on the house and shop and made a room for the gym. Here is the link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o9merKall67eY5c.html Thanks for your comment! Happy Lifting! Rob

Rob's Garage Woodworking do you think you will out throw the weight stack, I’m thinking about calling back to order the additional 50lbs add on???
@robsgaragewoodworkin5 жыл бұрын
I don't think I will. I have knee issues so I'm not going to be squatting the stack. As for everything else it should be sufficient. I'm not a serious bodybuilder but I like to look and feel good. I'd say if you have the money then do it but if money is tight then maybe not. You can never have too much weight...

Great video Rob! I just got the Bodysolid PFT100 and it's awesome! Approx. $1,450.00 and it comes standard with 160 lbs per side which is actually 80 lbs per side due to a 2 to 1 pulley ratio. I'm fairly strong and was concerned that it wouldn't be enough weight but it's plenty. I believe that it feels a little heavier due to the slight resistance created by the pulleys and cable resistance/friction. There's nothing I can't do with this machine. And as far as using a weight bench - It works great with one! It took me about 5 hours to assemble taking my time. The assembly was super easy - just follow the steps in sequence. Just some information to help if you're looking at getting a functional trainer. Happy lifting! : ) Also IPR Fitness makes some awesome attachments! A little pricey but worth every penny!!! I have their Lite loop straps and the hex cable handles and I love them!
@robsgaragewoodworkin4 жыл бұрын
I looked at that one at the Treadmill Factory. I like the inspire FT1 better but the Bodysolid PFT100 is the best value functional trainer that is actually good quality. It's smooth and strong but did not come with all the attachments included with the Inspire FT1. So you save initially but you have to buy the bars/grips separately. One thing I would suggest you get is the wide strap. You can use it for assisted chin ups and pull ups and it's much more comfortable for squats and calf raises. Check out all the Inspire attachments on their website. I posted a link for the belt below. There is nothing you can't do on these machines. You made a good choice! Enjoy your gym! Cheers! for small apartments, would you recommend this in a living room or better in a bedroom ? can you do leg exercises and how do you do your bench presses without the bench?
@robsgaragewoodworkin3 жыл бұрын
For chest you can use a bench but I don't like it as much. You can do chest presses, incline presses, decline presses and flys all in a standing position. Not great for bulk but excellent for fitness and definition. It's a decent machine for squats and calf raises but I'm not a fan of the other leg exercises on it. It's surprisingly good for assisted pull ups and chin ups where you stand on the strap 1/2 way up hooked to both stacks with weight to suit. Put it wherever you think you will use it the most. It's super fast for changeovers and I try to set up complementary exercises using the same set up or different set ups on both pulley's so you can go from one exercise to the next or 2 muscle groups at a time. Check out their website for more info and exercises inspirefitness.com Cheers! Rob

Thanks for sharing the info on the FT1. Out of curiosity, why didn't you purchase the FT2? Trying to decide if the extra pulleys and the smith bar is worth the extra money. I did try doing a deadlift with the smith bar and it was an unnatural motion. Also, thought it was strange that the salesperson didn't have the leg attachment to try out. Thanks for any feedback on this.
@robsgaragewoodworkin4 жыл бұрын
FT1 was smaller and cheaper and I bought the floor model when they were moving locations. I bought dumbbells from 5 to 70 also and I really couldn't spend any more. The FT2 wasn't on display but they had a Northern Lights functional trainer just like the FT2 on display. I find leg attachments are usually disappointing on home gyms but the FT2 will allow you to do more exercises overall. If you have the money and the room I would go for it - or you could add other equipment like dumbbells or boxing equipment. Variety helps keep you motivated. Either way I'm quite sure you won't be disappointed! Cheers! Rob

@robsgaragewoodworkin3 жыл бұрын
It's just a stripped down FT1. Almost identical. Try before you buy and if it's still nice and smooth like the FT1 then its a good buy. Check kijiji and facebook marketplace too. Sometimes you can get one of these (or similar manufacturer model like Precor) for $1000 used in like new condition. Just test how smooth and quiet they are before you buy. Cheers! Rob
