Nicole is not only a great artist, she is down to earth and she makes me laugh. I glue book in a different way. I take my box of random images and take one image at a time and glue them in categories so I'm flipping pages all the time. For example, like you, I'll put beds on one page, or chairs, but I put them together as I come to them. One page could take months to finish until I find the right images. Also I will glue down a full page image such as a gorgeous living room and then I glue in lamps or tables and basically decorate the room my way. I found an image of a children's room with bunk beds and 2 twin beds and I added dogs. Dogs on the beds and carpet, dog images on the walls and all words pertaining to dogs. It was so fun, I'd find an image in a magazine and I'd think, that would look good in the dog's room 😂

I’ve enjoyed Nichole’s glue book channel which I came across a few weeks ago. To see your take on using random bits that haven’t found a place yet is brilliant. Her work has inspired me to give glue books a go. Your take on her Big Random concept as an Inspiring Random Book is brilliant. I name my books. I picked up a spiral bound book for $5 this week. Ceri your take has given me a purpose for that book and a title. “INSPIRE ME, a book of random bits”.

Ceri: I’ve been collaging everyday since the end of last year. It is so relaxing, especially after a day of work. Nicole is a hoot. A very free artist who does some very funny collages. I’ve been using a magazine, picked up at one of my design lectures. I put things in there that I just love. No rhyme or reason. Just fun. And I, too, love looking at pages that are finished. I’m not sure we should view failure as bad. As you pointed out, “non-successes” can be great learning experiences. I think, as a culture, we need to learn to embrace failure, rather than making it out to be a negative. That’s how creativity and problem solving are born. Thanks for another enjoyable video!

I really enjoyed this video Ceri. I found myself saying to you "why did you cut that lovely piece off" but once it was finished I understood why you did it. It is all about our own visions with no rules. I find it a joy to appreciate someone else's creations even though it is not something that I would of chose to do. I look forward to seeing what you will do with the library books as it is a favourite subject of mine. There is something rather grand about books, world globes and studies with big leather chairs. Art is a great way to express yourself and it is a step in the right direction to help with healing oneself by the use of mindfulness. The journey is well worth it. I watched you cut pics out of magazines and a few days later, a friend dropped off a few mags. I had a nice relaxing time cutting pics out. I grabbed a notebook and started laying them out. Im learning (you taught me to notice paper dolls sitting or floating) how they face each other. I did glue some beautiful cigar boxes and cigars to one of my boxes, you use baskets. Im going back to paying attn. You are explaining the loyalty cards.

I use a plastic free alternative to the glue stick, which can be recycled 🙂 Coccoina Natural Glue in a metal tin, which smells like Bakewell tart!

There have been times that I think a page is finished. And I'll pick it up later and add something. My first rule of thumb: a journal is never finished.

Some people take a pic of their layout, you can always delete it later.

If the goal is random gluing, it seems like you are "fussing" about the colors & blending & balance quite a bit. Hopefully it was more relaxing for you than it seemed..
