I am transitioning my wardrobe, and enjoying my femininity more and more. Everyone asks where I am going, but most of the time it's a trip to the store or trash can. It feels empowering to look tidy, even if the task isn't glamorous.

I have some high waisted dresses with shoe string straps. I wear a short tshirt over them that gathers at the front, or a chambre shirt that I tie or a short knitted sweater all which come up to the high waist. This gives it the look of a less formal skirt and top but gives me the high waisted, tummy skimming silhouette that suits me that I cant get with a normal skirt and top. I get so many comments on how lovely my "skirts" are.

When I was in high school, I loved dresses and skirts and would have worn them everyday, but instead limited myself to once a week. The reason for that was because I hated dealing with all of the comments, "Why are you so dressed up!?" or "Wow! Aren't you the fancy one!" Stuff like that. I got so sick of it that I swore to myself that when I graduated from high school I would never wear pants again! True to my word, that is exactly what I did. I probably didn't put on a pair of pants or jeans for two years. Then slowly, jeans and pants began to creep back into my wardrobe. But recently since finding you and Jennifer Scott, I have gotten really intentional about my wardrobe again. About a year and a half ago I gave up pants all together, and like you, after some trial and error, have come to the conclusion that it's all about dresses. I don't want to fuss with anything else. Dresses look the best. They stand alone. They are easy to work in....you never have to adjust yourself, they are flattering. Throw on an apron and you can clean the bathroom, take the apron off and you're good to go out for dinner. Plus I just feel great! And they take about 5 seconds to throw on and then you are so put together. I think it is so worth it for women to go through some trial and error and find the cut/fabrication of dress that suits your body and just go with that. Instead of being limiting, it is the most liberating thing ever!

@@lvbr9174 Hi Laura. I am very lucky in that my mom is a seamstress and I trade work at her and my dad's house for sewing. It's just so hard to find good work dresses in stores. But another really great place to look is on etsy. If you type in "Linen dresses" and specifically "CottonCandyWearShop" or "LittleWomenAtelier" the most beautiful world of dresses will open up for you. A linen dress is a bit of an investment, but they are a dream to live in, and if you just take your time and slowly replace your clothes, it is worth it. And also, as a stop gap, I have actually found many cute dresses that are great for working in at Old Navy.

I grew up wearing skirts & blouses but pants to mow the lawn as we didn’t catch the grass. Now, we exclusively dress in skirts or dresses. At 52, a skirt and jacket is most flattering to my body because of scoliosis and having 7 children (& 8 miscarriages.) I like the opportunity to mix and match items since I have 2 daily skirts, 2 dressy skirts and an older backup skirt. Two cardigans, 2 blazers and a handful of tops gives me many options for 4 different seasons. Thanks for sharing, Nikki. Julie 🌷

I wear mostly skirts and dresses, they feel very “me” and I find them so much easier to wear and combine than trousers. Whenever I do wear trousers, my family and boyfriend are pleasantly surprised by my figure haha! I rarely wear skirts & dresses above the knee anymore. Over the years, I’ve adapted so much to a more elegant & vintage length that I feel exposed in things that are tighter and shorter. Sometimes I do wear trousers around the house just to bring a smile of surprise to my family & boyfriend’s faces 💛 The thing I love most about looking dressed up, is comments from elderly people 🥺 they always say I look lovely and ask me what the occasion is. Melts my heart.

Like you, I also wear dresses every day. Some years ago I asked myself - what do you feel best in, and the answer was very clear: dresses. I also enjoy my undergarments, but I love wearing ones made of silk. For me they represent a daily luxury feeling, as does putting on parfume😊.

All I wear for the last 20 ish years is dresses and skirts. Nothing above the knee. I also wear lacy bloomers every day. I designed and sew them myself. I have ones I make out of slip material for spring summer and cotton ones for fall winter. I make them flattering with darts at the waist and back. They are so cute and comfortable. I have bloomers I wear out in the garden as well. These are longer and thicker but no less frilly or lacy. :) I like anything flaring out in an a line so long as it has a yoke or at least is structurally fitted at the waist and top of hip area. I have to have that structure or yoke or it looks like I have a roll where I don't. Just my body type (pear shape but not overly so). I love being really feminine. I started to grow out my hair out 10 years ago. It's well below hip length now. I trim off a few inches per year because scraggly ends. But I am determined to get it at least below my bottom. I'd really like to get it to knee length though. Haha. It's a bit of work but not annoyingly so. I keep it in a long braid down my back 90 percent of the time. I love your channel so much. I feel you are a motivating and positive place to spend some time. I very much feel kindred with you. I am very domestic also. And I love to serve my hubby and my family and make their lives happy and healthy. I feel so fulfilled when my man comes home from his 14 hour shift and I can hug him and take his coat for him and make him tea and have a wholesome, healthy and delicious home cooked meal ready with the house all clean. He shouldn't have to worry about a thing at home and be able to trust that I am putting in the hours here so he can relax and spend time with the kid and just be. Thank you for making videos!!!

I also wear dresses almost 100% of the time. My four-year-old daughter is also very feminine and personally offended by the idea of wearing jeans or any other type of pants. What a lovely, inspiring video for both of us:-) The only thing I would have done to improve it would have been adding pictures of your favorite dresses, or you modeling the dresses.

I discovered the beauty of wearing only dresses over 10 years ago. This is how I always dress when I go out of my home. I prefer the fitted bodice and flared skirt look as well. I keep warm in my cold climate by dressing with layers of tights and thigh high cashmere socks. Also a beautiful fitted wool coat is essential. You have inspired me so much to also dress beautifully at home. Until this year I wore yoga pants at home but now have three beautiful and flattering house dresses. Thank you for all that you share!

Hi Nikki, your videos are wonderfully done! I am in my late 60s and have had a career in public education for 46 years . . . 35 teaching high school and now in my 11th year teaching part time at a local college. Like you, I'm a dress gal. I find for my body a tailored back-zip dress flatters my figure the most (usually with Spanx underneath!) After the first few weeks of the semester, I am usually approached by a young woman who tells me how much she admires that I dress so well. At age 68, that is a marvelous compliment! Glad to see a younger gal who likes dresses, too!

i never wore dresses/skirts growing up. but about a year ago (i'm 33 now), i started experimenting with dresses. it started as a comfort thing, wanting to try out chemises and long nightgowns for lounging around the house, but i enjoyed them so much i started getting actual dresses. it's been pretty mind blowing and fun. i'm actually putting effort into the way i look for the first time in my life, and it's nice. i feel better about myself, and i've been really enjoying this process. it's taking quite a long time to slowly sort out my new wardrobe, largely due to finances (i'm on ssi, so money is tight lol) but also because i had NO clue where to even start. so i've had to do a lot of trying, shopping, browsing, researching, returning, etc LOL i started with basic shape/cut/length/fabric. That's the trickiest thing to sort out imo (as well as colors, those are ROUGH, but i'm getting there lol). and now i've moved towards undergarments/layers (shoes, socks, bras, slips, leggings, camis, etc. thankfully i 'figured out' underwear about 2 years ago, nice big high-waisted briefs with some lace, wonderful!), largely to help with comfort (whether it's cold or modesty). i'm gonna start experimenting with skirts and sweaters/tops this fall/winter. as well as linen and wool! i relate to your love of slips (though i only JUST started getting some to help with sheerness/underwear line issues. i have a feeling this is going to become an unhealthy obsession LOL i love how they're these little personal pieces of beauty). they keep the dresses cleaner for longer, they work fine as lounge/sleepwear, and they feel lovely. it's fun to use them as layers too, with lace on the edges, but it's fun to just know you're wearing them. dresses and skirts are just so much more comfortable, and they help you feel more put-together with less effort. just grab and go lol i only recently started going outside the house in dresses, and i've found that when i 'dress up' to go out, i feel more confident (and thus, even more comfortable!). it's really nice! the big downside, though, is since i care about my clothes more, i have to be more careful about their care. washing and drying is trickier, takes more thought, and wrinkles are starting to bug me, so i finally got an ironing board a week ago. LOL gonna have to start paying attention to stains too and find a good stain remover. i highly recommend it to any lady who values comfort but has never seriously tried dresses. some of them can be insanely uncomfortable, but there are TONS that are just incredible! start with sleeveless if the arms/pits tend to bother you in dresses! just wear them around the house if you're self-conscious like i was/am, then you can wear them outside as you get used to it. but give them a try! heck, even guys should try them! especially as loungewear! (and i'm not just saying that because i'd love to see more men wearing kilts :P) they're just fantastic.

I just want to let you know how your videos have helped this older woman back into the living. "Counting spoons" was my life for so long, only the necessary was accomplished. I had forgotten how to the other things, those things so important. Now, because of you, let's see, I don't wear leggings as often, a dress is so much easier as well as nicer. While I'm still not putting make-up on every day, I am paying attention to how my hair looks. (I even went and had it highlighted!) Your gracefulness and calmness though, is what has calmed my thoughts in daily activities. By this I mean, for example, I don't have the need to hurry to get something done (which takes away spoons). I can go and clean the kitchen, for example, in a slower, purposeful manner only to discover I have the energy to do something extra! Thank you!!!

Hi dear Nikki, thank you for sharing more about your choice in exclusively wearing dresses. For the past few years I have only worn dresses and skirts. I like to buy vintage dresses and skirts, because many of the offerings currently in stores today are either too short, too tight, or generally ill-fitting. I also find that vintage items often are made from more durable fabrics than contemporary items. Like you, I had initially wondered how I would get through the winter - especially living in NY! - but with thicker stockings, leggings under skirts, etc., I am always toasty-warm :) What a joy to read the comments here and see so many other women of like mind! God bless you and your beloved family, dear Nikki - have a wonderful weekend and 'see' you next wk!

Same here! I am in Wisconsin. Although I will wear a dress in winter with fleece lined tights and boots for church other occasion. It gets well below 0 with lots of snow, so dresses aren't practical for everyday. My winter "dress" coat is a long 800 fill goose down! Your wardrobe should reflect your own lifestyle, climate and personal style. Jeans and pants can be beautiful and feminine like Audrey Hepburn's signature cigarette pants & Marylin Monroe's Levi's. I love the up-lift wearing a dress gives as well as the feeling of femininity. Also, I'm in my 60s now, and I find that waistbands from pants actually cause me pain (even if they're loose). Strange, I know, but my mom, sister and niece have the same experience. It's so funny how nowadays people do wonder where you're going if you look nice! Lovely video.

I wear dresses about 95% of the time, skirts 3% and very very rarely jeans. Every time I wear the jeans I hate them. I used to always wear jeans, now I just never reach for them. I think it’s a combination of a change in attitude and a comfort factor. I find dresses so much more comfortable.

It's so wonderful to see all the positive Comments and dress wearing ladies here. I was suggested (KZfaq suggestion) your videos this week and have been enjoying going from video to video of yours. You're a breath of fresh air. I have been wearing dresses and skirts and blouses most of my life. I'm 53. I simply find them more comfortable! And feminine. I love chiffon and silky fabrics. Polyester is my least favorite, but I think it's because of negative experiences with it in the 70s when I was a little girl and it was the fabric of the decade. 😂 I love your dresses, however, and wouldn't mind trying a polyester dress these days. But yes, I love to wear dresses. I feel my best in them. And like others have said here, people are complimentary about my style and I've noticed many people treat me nicely. Casual jeans and shirts are so normal that to see a woman in a dress can be attention getting, even though I don't wear them for attention. I like to disappear in a crowd. But I tend to stand out! LOL My friends, in their 30s, know I wear dresses and skirts and blouses and though it's curious to them, and they've asked me why, they know that this is just me. I encourage everyone to care less what others think and just be yourself! People will always have questions. Just answer kindly and move along. 😊

Such a lovely video and charming personal style philosophy. I'm so happy to have recently discovered your channel. I've worn only skirts and (mostly) dresses for many years now (at least 10), and am slowly switching over to dresses only. My 5 remaining skirts are solid colors, so I wear them with exactly matching solid tops , so it kinda looks like a dress and I won't replace them when they wear out. I am switching to only dresses because, as you said, they just look better on me and seem to be just that much more elegant than even a skirt. And, even though I am a small person, I look terrible in pants. Terrible. Plus, dresses are so feminine! I enjoy being a girl! I also have short hair so wearing a dress with short hair is a nice contrast, I think. Lastly, all the women in my family wore only dresses and I look back on that with such fondness. I want to continue that feminine history.

that's my favorite silhouette and the only type of dresses I wear a line and fit and flare its very flattering. I love all your dresses you look amazing in them and I agree its so easy to wear a dress no guess work and makes life easier and I like polyester dresses as well mostly and easy care. I too wash the polyester dresses and hang to dry and they come out perfect even though they say dry clean. I just started my dress journey and I live in a cold winter and fall climate however it is doable and come spring and summer it gets much easier since its warmer then.

Go thrifting for cashmere sweaters!! I have 2 cashmere sweaters that I thrifted and they are so warm! I then layer a tank top under all of my sweaters, and I wear thick fleece lined leggings from target under my skirts and dresses and stay so warm and cozy! For socks, I wear thick fuzzy socks or wool socks and boots! And a heavy coat with scarves, gloves and hats if needed!

Hi Nikki! Thanks for another great video, and all of your welcoming comments to me from past videos. I think I love dresses almost as much as you do. I think a dress is the loveliest piece in a lady's wardrobe. The lip color you are wearing in the video is a lovely match to your dress. I recently reviewed spring and summer vintage dresses with my friend teaching me ladies' styling. I think a session with her in which we look only at dresses would be a blast! Would you say any of your dresses are vintage? Do you like vintage style? How many dresses in total do you own?

I had some dresses made in linen after purchasing my first linen dress in Brussels. Now I find my style in certain brands I love , and I love dresses for all the other reasons u mentioned, as well . Thank u for something nice to talk and listen too , u have a calm and peaceful channel, that is nice to watch. I wear anything (fabric) that I like the feel of too . If I like it I don’t care , I do not hv a certain style but I quess it’s more like boho

Hi Nikki!! Ur tittle caught my attention. I am someone who as a child always thought that I would be wearing dresses all the time. My first pair of denim was when I was 15. The way u hv decide to wear only dresses, I hv decide to wear sarees whenever I can as I am from India. Saree gives a sense of confidence, feel feminine nd at the same time am proud of my heritage. Passing on to the next generation I consider that's one of my responsibilities. I wear saree on special and casual occasion. At the same time I like to balance western wear as well. Also, I love dresses as right u said it's a whole outfit in itself. Hence I wearing it daily as my home wear. I m super comfortable nd happy wearing the same.

Hi Nikki, I started wearing only skirts/blouses and dresses back in 1992 and have had no regrets. I do wear dress/casual pants on occasion as needed like going to the snow, hiking, travelling by greyhound bus or field trips with the grandkids; it just made things easier for me. As for daily life it's skirts and dresses always. I too buy from consignment stores garments that are new or gently used items. You know what Nikki, I would love to see you make a video going thrifting and then show us how you made it your own; it could be a household item or a garment and include Jorge in the remake he is so talented and fun. I don't know why I feel I have to say the following but, here it goes. I,J, take you, N, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's Holy law, in the presence of God I make this vow. Being loyal is to stand by a person regardless of whether he/she is right. Faithfulness is trying to be loyal to someone/something no matter; loyalty is the outcome, faithfulness is the process. God bless you young lady.

I would buy from you but I'm 2 petite. It's tough to find stuff when you have short legs. What's helped me with my wardrobe so far is sticking with the same cut and brand of pant in different colors, knowing what necklines and colors work for me and stocking up on multiples of things that I love since it's hard for me to come by something that works for me. I don't have as many clothes as I used to but I have so much more to wear now. I agree with you on the fabric texture. I do prefer more natural fabrics but I will wear the polyester that's more like your pink dress with the collar or the thicker dress suit kind if that makes sense. I'm not the best with identifying fabric. The heavy stuff with the sheen overheats me. Whatever they make the American Living dresses out of is what I don't care for.

I have found my people!!! :D Everything you have said in this video is EXACTLY how I feel! It takes me seconds to get ready in terms of my wardrobe. I take the dress off the hanger, put it on, and voila!! I am ready to go. I have 3 small children 4 and under and do not have the time for all the fuss lol I look beautiful (at least I feel as though I do), well put together, and do so while running around after toddlers and carrying an infant. Wrap dresses for the win for breastfeeding as they open up in front. Life is too short for ugly clothing and I don't intend to spend a minute in it (unless I am doing heavy work).

I have worn dresses only for the past 30 years. I feel most comfortable in them. I never loved or really liked how pants fit me. Luckily I live in Florida so I just wear hosiery when it is cold out. I only purchase dresses that I can machine wash. No dry cleaning. I wash my dresses on delicate and hang them to dry or give them a quick spin in the dryer on low.
