Join me on my walk to work to test out the Insta360 X4, I loved the Insta360 X3 however 8K is really needed and now it's here, is it any good?

it's a great camera with the niche application of 360 videos... I like the versatility of the 'infinite' framing possibilities - just set it and forget it; have used it exclusively for cycling so far.

Great video Is that part on the trail where you went down the steps near Carbis Bay? Used to holiday there as a kid 35 years ago and kind of looks familiar!

Hmmm. I have watched loads of X4 videos as I try to decide on upgrading from the X3, but this looks a bit soft and washed out compared to some others. Did you use low sharpness, which I think loses detail as well as sharpness? Any processing of the colors? I confess that I have not had a chance to watch the whole (lovely Cornish) video yet so maybe you mentioned this in it... [Edited to add that I have now seen the luts bit, so I realise that you did process that bit, but I am still puzzled by the general softness. Lens guards on maybe?]

Hey yeah I've reached out to the company, I always turn sharpness down as it should always still look in focus and sharp... just softer.

@@editorskeys I thought so .. this camera involves so much processing, some of it AI driven, that my instinct would be to forget about normal practice in respect of sharpness, and simply go for what works best with this particular device. It will be interesting to know what Insta360 say about it...

I’ve found low sharpness to look VERY soft on this camera, so I usually set it to medium, even though my other cameras are set to low.

@@DominicPettifer I am surprised that this has barely been mentioned in most reviews and guides. To me it seems to be one of the key settings. No point in the 8k capture if sharpness is set low in this camera, IMHO.

I'm still new user of x4. How can u rotate the view while u're walking? I don't see ur hand push the rotation button on the x4 screen

Hi, you have to edit the clips in insta360 studio and keyframe the rotation yourself

Great vid,but to be honest most of the vids of you walking your face is kinda blurry .I have a GoPro max and i say you’re cam is like 20percent better

@@pastafazoule Yes 360s are never as sharp as a GoPro or Action 4 for example. But I quite like the look of the footage
