Thanks Robot. Two years out and this video is still a gem. My recently adopted ET4 150 has required much TLC to get it back in serviceable/presentable shape. She's looking and running great now, thanks to Scooterwest, and in no small part thanks to your many excellent DIY videos. I've had it on a battery tender throughout, but now that she's roadworthy, it was starting to get old connecting/disconnecting alligator clips to the batter terminals. Luckily Piaggio included a nice big hole in front of the battery cradle for a wiring harness. Just fed the lead though the hole and dropped it right below the fuel tap; and tucked up under the RH fender skirt. Battery is nicely sealed up again toboot. So much easier!

It is better to disconnect the ground , disconnect the positive reconnect the positive lead then reconnect the ground. By using this order you have no chance of shorting it out while doing the job .

This is the way... I did mine. Know in your original video you went through the floor but yeah, I think this is the much cleaner route. 👍 And for the people worried about it getting dirty, I live up in NE Scotland and had it like this for over a year. It still looks fine and no crap has got past the rubber cap.

Great video, as always. I routed my SAE connector up top... out of the side of the battery cover. The underside of the cover has a plastic rim around the perimeter, and which nests into the battery case opening. If you route your cable this way I recommend cutting out a section of this rim to allow for passage of the cable... otherwise the battery cover won't nest/snug down properly. I used a small hacksaw to easily file into the rim, and then a small chisel/hammer to pop out this wee section from the base of the rim... took 60 seconds and worked great... now the cable pops out where I want it but with the cover properly flush.

I got mine under the floor board on my HPe. It comes out perfect at the back of the floor board. I used to large tie wraps to feed it up past the foot peg (below the foot peg)to the battery bay. No need to worry about the exhaust 😉

Nice one Robot, I have thought about the inconvenience you would have if you ever had a flat battery. Even in Winter I try to run my GTS once a week but here in Britain there are occasions when thats not possible. I had an MP3 for a year, the alarm kept flattening the battery but you could plug the charger in under the seat. I will definitely look at fitting a kit like this. I binned the alarm, job done but went back to a GTS as I didn't really like the MP3.

Robot, when the Vespa Elettrica is charging, does it also charge the 12v battery under the floor? Or do I have to be riding for the 12v battery to charge?

I've added leads on my Primavera but I have it routed up just under the bucket. I zip tied it in place. When I want to charge I just pull the bucket out - which is very rare during riding season. When stored for the winter it takes no time to feed the plug lead up under the bucket and plug into the battery lead. It stays on the tender like that until spring.

The end will get covered in road grime there. I left mine (CTEK) in the battery space. Just 4 screws to undo.

I hate to disagree with the Vespa Robot God, but I believe have a better solution than having the plug underneath the scoot. When I was taking the plastic off, it seemed like a no-brainer to me to run the tender wires up to the "knee pad", and have an outlet there. Super easy to do, but involved taking off the glove box and the floor, so took a bit longer. I also ended up with 2 extra screws after "fully" reassembling.

This proves the et4 is the best
