In this tutorial video made by bikers for bikers, we teach you how to install forward controls on a Harley-Davidson Softail or Dyna model. It's fair to say the video will work for any 2000 to present models, but will likely work for earlier models too. The project has remained the same over the years. There have only been slight changes on the bolts and hardware. The bulk of the project is all laid out for you step-by-step in this HD tutorial video.

I just purchased this video to swap out the controls on my 2017 Dyna FXDB. Great video, helped me to feel confident doing this myself and everything went smooth. The only note I'll make is that Ryan suggest this job will take "normal tools" you have in your toolbox - a T70 Torx and 1-3/16" socket are not "normal" tools in my book. Had to go out and find those before I could start. Other than that, smooth sailing.

Put forwards on my Sporty and now I'm thinking of doing this on my '13 SuperGlide. Can you give me an idea of time (soup to nuts) it took you? 2 hrs? 4 hrs? And did you use a lift or can I use my jack? The jack gets about 18" off the ground but not sure that's enough clearance to be comfortable doing this job.

I have a rather more extensive collection of tools then most do because I flip cars and bikes, and I'm pretty sure I don't have a T70 in my tool box, so you're in the clear there

TY, I have busted hip so mid controls make it very painful to ride. Bummer i have 95 dyne super glide, Just got performance machine forward controls . Should help though mate , Tank you again.

I have a 99 heritage softail classic with heel/toe shifter and floorboards. I don’t like the feel and have long legs so wanna switch em to fwd controls, will this vid work for this? Thanks

I have a question my bike already has forward controls and I’m trying to put foot boards on it now the foot boards i not from the Harley dealer will work but my bracket on the right side for the brake hits my muffler. Is there a spacer or anything i can put on it to get that bracket past the muffler so i can install the foot boards

Quick question. Is installation of the Dyna floorboard kit similar to installation of the forward control kit?

Hard to say. We've never put floorboards on a Dyna. I would guess and say it's very similar though.

I have 1988 softail custom I put new forward controls on it. Not Harley parts, sorry. These are billet. The rear brake pedal needs to forward I'm short legged 5ft4...the master cylinder rod I turn all the way I ran out of adjustment. What can I do. I have a pic I can show you. It needs to move forward for me. Thank you buddy. I know it an older model I restored all of it. Show bike and I ride it.

Hey man I purchased the full video on gumroad. Everything on the left side of the bike went well. got the forward shifts on smooth. when I got to the left side of my 07 Dyna FXDB I ran into a big problem. as I was trying to remove the rear break rod It didn't just twist off. I thought ok may need some leverage got that the rod began to twist but the dam thing just bike off leaving a piece stuck hanging in where the rod connects. I attempted to use my drill out and it still won't losen.. any suggestions?

Some break free lubricant. Possibly some heat if necessary.
