Installing LED lights to your CO2 laser is one of the most inexpensive and easiest laser upgrades to complete. If you plan on creating content with your laser, having optimal lighting is key. When ordering LED lights, make sure you're ordering the proper voltage for your power supply. OMTech lasers are 24v.

Its SO easy to do too. Took me longer to record the video than it did to do the install. Good luck and post if you have questions.

Well worth it. Keep in mind you don’t have to plug in where I did. You can use any 24v spot

I wish it was this easy on the 130 watt. I do not have the front framing that you have here. I thought about going on the lid but decided against it. I am also installing a dimmer.

My way is just A way. Not necessarily THE way. I’ve seen people mount on the lid and then wire down to wherever there’s a 24v power source.

I used all of the suggested materials on my Omtech 60 watt machine and it worked great for a couple of hours then my DC power supply overloaded and died. Omtech used a 7amp power supply. I ordered a 25 watt unit on amazon and I'm back up and running. I'd be a little careful with this.

Please send me your address so I can send you a MUCH better set of wire strippers. That's the least I can do for all of the help you've provided all of us owners of OMTech lasers 😉

Is the link in the description the actual LEDs you used? The ones linked in the video description head to a warm white (3k) and the ones you have look almost white (6k). Just want to make sure before I order!

I just checked and they’re NOT the same. These are the ones I used but show currently unavailable. Keep an eye on it as it occasionally shows up a.co/d/54ZLDA9

Is there a "recap" for the end you cut off of the led strip or how is that connected if you want to use the rest for something else? Right now I have a 12v "plugin" self stick that works but these seem a lot brighter.
@EdmondsWoodshop

If you have a 12v LED that plugs into a 110 outlet, it won’t work. Needs to be 24v. My LED light strip didn’t come with a plug. The ends were bare to begin with. Some 24v led light strips have plugs with adapters on the end. Those simply need to be cut off and spliced into another wire like I have shown OR you can use an outlet

Ok able to get in the shop today. As for my above question I meant a "cap/connector" for the left over leds on the 24v. I can figure that out down the road no biggie. As for connecting into the 24v plug. is it ok to connect it directly to the outgoing area? I dont know how to (or if I can post pics) its just my 24v plug (green thing) has all that glue on it. But it directly connects to a panel below it. Want to know if I could connect it to that following the same wire scheme (red/blue-black to red blue/black? @@EdmondsWoodshop

ok yeah to add on.... the light thing comes with a 24v plug adapter. So essentially i could hook it up to a 24v Power brick with a switch on it also.

@@jamesfacciolli8061yep just looked at your picture. It’s good to go since it’s a 24v slot and ground connection.

Is there a possibility that adding these lights would overload the 24 volt power supply? I installed the same thing you did and a day later the power supply was toast.
@EdmondsWoodshop
@EdmondsWoodshop 3 ай бұрын
As long as you added 24v leds and not 12v LEDs (which is a common mistake) then overloading from the LEDs is highly unlikely.

Just a thought, but why did you not just disconnect the light on the laser and use that wire ?
@EdmondsWoodshop

I actually have another LED install video where I did just what you asked. However, on this particular model the light is under the moving gantry and if I did this then I would not only be taking away additional light, but I'd have to remove and route wiring anyways since its on a moving rail.

its funny but i just upgraded to a 130 watt 35x55 laser and have to do it just like this. only prob is I have no place to put the lights on the front. Oh well 3 is better than none. so thanks mate lol

Bought your kit and the end result was the laser would not home and only move forward and backward. Any thoughts?
@EdmondsWoodshop
@EdmondsWoodshop 6 ай бұрын
My kit? Are you part of our official OMTech group where you can post a video of what you installed and what’s occurring? If the left and right movement is not working then that has nothing to do with the LED lights. That’s your X axis movement. The x axis stepper motor is controlled by a driver. Are the driver plugs fully seated?

@EdmondsWoodshop Bought the LED lights from the link in the video and attached to the 24v plug in the video. That's when the problem started, disconnected the lights and everything went back to normal. Traced the wire from the light back to the 24v power supply and attached there, same result. Recently purchased 24v plug for the lights to plug in the wall. Thank you for the response and I'll check the connection you refer to.
