hello, why install proxmox on zfs, it consumes alot of ram and cpu which you can utilize for virtualization?

You may want to install proxmox on a RAID configuration for redundancy, in that case, ZFS is the only supported software raid technology. The other option is to relay on the controller hardware raid. (IE setting up a RAID 1 on the BIOS). Proxmox dev team is considering supporting BRTFS as well. MD raid is not recommended at all.
