Step by step instructions for installing the YRD256 Series Yale Assure deadbolt lock SL. Start by removing your old deadbolt lock from the door. Next put the latch bolt in (make sure you have up pointed up). Then put the electronic/touchscreen unit in with the cable under the latch bolt. On the inside of the door install the mounting plate with put the cable through the cutout on the mounting plate. Put the two posts in the touchscreen unit. Screw two bolts through the mounting plate to the electronic unit. Now attach the cable to the interior mechanical assembly unit (make sure the dots are facing out on the wire harness). Next, attach the mechanical assembly unit to the mounting bracket with the three screws. Now install the Network module and then put the batteries in. Put the battery cover over the batteries and tighten the screw. Now test your lock by throwing the latch in and out.

Wake the lock by putting the back of your hand on the touchscreen. Push the gear key, enter the master pin code (I suggest you use 8 digit code) then gear key. Next touch the keypad it will test the latch bolt. If it jams you will want to make sure that your latch lines up with the latch plate on the door frame. If it binds at all or doesn’t move freely. You will need to adjust the latch bolt on the door and or the latch bolt plate on the door frame. To add a user code enter the master pin followed by the gear key. Next hit #2 then the gear key 1 to add a pin code followed by the gear key. Next, put the user pin code followed by the checkmark. You are now finished with installation and programming. The Yale YRD256 is now ready to be used.
