Installing 33" Tires on my 1st Gen Toyota Sequoia

Hey guys!
Thanks so much for watching. I am beyond excited to see the Sequoia finally sitting on a set of 33" tires. I've wanted to lift and install 33's ever since I got this sequoia. I'm super happy with the result!
Tires are BFG KO2 - 285/70/17 amzn.to/3Pq0TkZ
Wheels - KMC Impact OL 17x9
Please Note: I forgot to mention this in the video but I do have a 2” lift kit already installed. I get a tiny bit of rubbing at full lock but it’s not bad. If you are still stock height, I can’t confirm these will fit without rubbing!

Just bought an 05 sequoia this weekend, this video has really affirmed me that you can indeed fit 33s with a lift kit. Def one of the first mods being done

Yep you 100% can! I never had any issues rubbing with 33's even at full tuck and full lock. Fast forward to today and I'm running 35" tires on the same 2" lift. It required a bit of trimming but not much!

Very unique having g the white lettering show. +1 I'd say buy another set of 4 lug nuts just for extra measure. I wouldn't show the box the lug nuts came in cause that's how you order the key.

Oh yea smart idea! Having spare lugs would be super easy to keep around. Even the “locking lug nuts” can be pretty universal so it’d already be pretty easy to get a key. Just wanted to show the specific lug nuts for anyone else who might be looking for some! Thanks for watching!

is ur new wheels hub size the same with ur oem ones? if not u need hub centric rings, i switched my old daily beater accord wheels and didmt get hub centric rings and it was riding weird , got some rings and put them on, wheel fit snug and no more weird acting from the wheels and tires.

New wheels and tires look great! One suggestion on the install, always use a jack stand if you can, just in case the jack fails! Awesome setup!

I was going to put on my 03 sequoia my 2017’ 4runner stock wheels but I was told they’re not deep enough they will rub ?

I didn’t have any issues with the stock Tacoma wheels. The biggest thing I think you’d have to look for would be making sure they clear the brake calipers if they’re a 16” wheel. I can’t say for certain but I don’t think they’d run anywhere else.

Thanks so much! In this video the only suspension upgrade I had done was a 2” lift kit from old man emu. No spacers and the wheels are 0mm offset. No rubbing!

Did you get new tire pressure sensors for the new wheels? Did they need to be programmed or do they program automatically while driving? Looks great! I am going with silver wheels on my silver sequoia.

I didn't get any TPMS sensors. My Sequoia is from 2002 and as far as I know, didn't come with that feature. I think it was introduced in the later models! Great choice with the silver wheels! I'm sure that will look great!

I bet they would! With a wider tire the only consideration would be the offset of your wheels and pushing them away from the upper control arm. You may need 0.5"-1.5" spacers depending on your wheel offset. My wheels are a 0mm offset and I recently installed 1.5" spacers to prevent rubbing on the UCA with my new 35x12.5 tires. How much of an impact did the tires and wheels have on your mpg?

The 33’s definitely lowered it a bit, with the 33’s I’m getting around 12-13mpgs.

I never tried to fit 33's on stock suspension so I can't say for sure. In this video I have a 2" lift from Old Man Emu installed and didn't need to do any trimming. The 33's didn't rub at all with the 2" lift! Hope this helps!

I can’t say for certain because I already had a 2” lift kit installed before mounting 33s. I will say that a 2” lift allows you to run 33s with no rubbing!

Is there any kind of lift on your Sequoia? Or were you able to fit those tires on stock suspension?

Yes there is! Sorry I should have mentioned it in the video. I have a 2" lift kit from old man emu. I had no rubbing with the 33's and lift. I never had 33's on stock suspension but I'm guessing you would have to do a little bit of trimming to make them fit. Hope this helps!

Yes they do! Anything smaller than a 16" wheel may not clear the brake caliper though.

I'm on a 2" lift kit from Old Man Emu. There is a tiny bit of rub but only at full lock. I've done no trimming. Hope this helps!

the taco wheels looked better.i.m.o. factory Toyota look.😂.Just think/remember how much heavier the new wheels and l.t.rated ko.2,s. were when lifting from truck and installing?. yeah that,s what the driveline thinks too. 😅😅

How’s the rubbing going on the front😬😂 it may not rub cursing on the highway but definitely at full lock and certainly over bumps. go ahead and remove the mud flaps and hammer down the pinch welds a little bit to the back.

Honestly it hasn’t seemed to bad. The only time I’ve noticed rubbing so far has been full lock turns. I did remove the mud flaps after filming this video and will take a look at those pinch welds! I do have a 2” lift which helps but I’d definitely be rubbing more on stock height.

Looks awesome 😎. I got an 05 i put machined methods and i like it but i went -12 offset sometimes i think i should of left it with 0 offset. But i get compliments here and there . Yours looks bitchin

Appreciate it! I woulda loved some negative offset but these wheels didn’t have that option. The 0 looks decent but sometimes I wonder what it’d look like with spacers
