Today I will walk you through exactly how I installed this 2" Dobinsons lift kit with IMS shocks. After removing the old suspension of 620,000km and installing this incredible, quality product, I'm once again happy and comfortable on the road and on the 4WD tracks!

the new tough dog 45mm adjustable 2" lift arrived on Tuesday and my dad and I are gonna instal them on the 105 this weekend, the car already has a 2" lift but the shocks and coils are from 2007 and the seals are the equivalent to a piece of PVC pipe and the left front corner is sitting 4cm lower than the rest of the car lol

Your car is getting better every time I watch your video’s great job. Just a question because it’s lifted 4 inches does it need to be engineered
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that! It’s a long-term project haha. Just slowly adding more as I earn the money! And nah so it’s still a 2 inch lift, but because the old springs had sagged so much, it ended up being 4 inches higher than what it was

Another Good video young Will. Note generally you measure your height from centre wheel hub to wheel arch. We are waiting to do lift/GVM at same time. As our rig is same year and setup almost, with drawers, front bar etc. I'm curious what heights you have now hub to arch/front and rear. I haven't been able to find what the factory measurement's were from new, thus curious how much ours has dropped after 350k
@WillsLandcruiser

Hey mate, thanks for that! It’s now about 630mm from centre of hub to wheel arch at back and about 600mm at front! Hope this helps!

@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the sway bars are still in and there doesn’t seem to be any stress on them so far. Dobinsons say that sway bar extensions for a 2” lift isn’t necessary

Hello Sir. I want to add 2 inches of Dobinson lift kit in front and rear to my Prado 150. Should I get Dobinsons IMS or the regular yellow ones? Do I need to get spacers as Prado leans on sharp turns or roundabouts? What should be the front springs- C59-352? Rear Springs C59-325? Front Shocks IMS59-50700 Rear Shocks IMS59-50705. Sorry for asking a long question.

Did you add extended brake lines for the lift? And if you did was it necessary for a 2 inch lift
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 3 жыл бұрын
Dobinsons reckoned it wasn’t necessary to extend brake lines or sway bars for a 2” lift so I didn’t. No problems so far

do you need to change the castors on coils lifts only or leafs as well?
@WillsLandcruiser

Yes definitely recommend caster correction. Wheel alignment showed my caster was just in spec with those corrected bushes. Very hard to get it perfect on live axle but really makes them ride better

Hey Bud, 2 years on how do you find the IMS shocks?
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 11 ай бұрын
Hey mate- 2 years on I still find them pretty great! They really shine on dirt roads with potholes and corrugations. Pretty comfy on the bitumen and no troubles 4WDing. I think they’re a “firmer” shockie and if you’re doing more touring/town driving/highway k’s then you’d probably find the twin tubes more comfortable

Hi mate, i just got the 2 inch dobinson lift which they are installing, i asked specifically about castor correction to which they insisted isnt needed on the 105 ?
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 2 жыл бұрын
I drove this for a bit without caster correction and then I changed the bushes and there was a major difference. With my knowledge now I would encourage you to get corrected radius arms rather than just put corrected poly bushes in. It’ll be better and better lasting in the long run

@@WillsLandcruiserthanks pal. i had the lift installed, now it's wandering a bit on the road. would you recommend the superior engineering superflex radius arms 2 inch castor correction ? They are a bit pricey at around $1600 but im fine with that.
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser Жыл бұрын
@@jcproductions007 I don’t have any experience with them myself, but it is a way better idea to go for corrected radius arms rather than just corrected bushes. Mine wanders a bit too. Definitely get a wheel alignment after lifting, and if you’re still having trouble try some heavy duty sway bars

Why do my 1998 LC100 doesn’t have coils in front? It is torsion bars only…
@WillsLandcruiser
@WillsLandcruiser 2 жыл бұрын
That’s the difference between the 100 series and the 105 mate. The 100 series is a newer model, slightly wider chassis, and it has independent front suspension as opposed to the live axle in the 105
