We used 15 guys to get this massive metal iBeam in place for an 8' ceiling to help support a load bearing wall for a 22' opening. I had anticipated it would be impossible to lift the beam but with enough ladders and hands it was fairly easy to get the job done. You will need to consult with a structural engineer for specific plans on how to properly support your space, but I want to show you how we got the beam in place and what hardware was used in order to secure it. We love how it opened up our kitchen/dining room space and connected it with the living room.
Please post comments on how your project went!
