Bryan, thanks for the video. Before I saw this, I was reluctant to attempt putting holes in my kettle myself. How powerful is your cordless drill, and what kind of drill bits are you using for the pilot holes?

Dewalt 20v and Dewalt drill bits.

Thanks for the video. Are you using a controller, ToP or similar, or just connecting straight to a 240v source?

I really like that boil coil but my pot is a 15.5 gallon ss beer keg and has a 8 inch ferrule fitting welded in the top and the bc will not fit.

Does the dip tube come out easily with the BoilCoil installed? I was wondering specifically about how I would get my HopBlocker on and off if a BoilCoil was installed. Would you recommend the BoilCoil based on your experiences to date?

if you are using the hop blocker, i would probably install the boilcoil higher than the dip tube. personally, i dont use the hop blocker so i cant say if it will or will not work with the boilcoil in the suggested location. however, the tube does come out easily. it works just as fine as a home made element and is easier to install.

Bryan, great video, thanks! Quick question: Why does it need to be installed in the front?
@bryandhargrave
@bryandhargrave 10 жыл бұрын
I would say that it doesn't need to be installed in the front. However, the dip tube slides perfectly between the top and middle coil when it is done this way. It seems very perfectly spaced. Moving the connector around to the back may cause the coil to hit the dip tube. You could move the template up or down to adjust but I didn't feel like doing the math.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply!

Do you think it would fit fine if the plug was in the back of the pot vs the side/front?
@bryandhargrave
@bryandhargrave 9 жыл бұрын
the plug could go in the back, but the template is made so that the dip tube fits right between two parts of the coil. moving the plug to the back may compromise that perfect fit. also, it makes it plugging and unplugging in order to move and clean the kettle way easier when it is on the front. it just doesnt look awesome

Hey man, late on the question, but I'm having a hard time finding those hole punches you're referencing. I too hate step bits as they're too easy to screw up when it comes to filing off the edges, and would like to invest in some of these punches. Where did you get yours at? Thanks for the video!

Cleaner install than a full DIY. A little more expensive. I say it's worth it. Check out what I've replied to everyone else for more details.
