In this video I'm swapping my son's ceiling light for a fan. The original mounting box is not rated for a fan, so I'm also replacing it with a ceiling fan box. Since I have attic access, I used a new construction box, but I put a link below to both types. Sorry for some of the audio being low and the kids being loud! Mounting a ceiling fan takes a little time, but you can do it!

Thanks a lot for putting this video out . Holy crap you're not kidding about no room in the wire box it took me a while having to run some wires to the other side to fit the box back in SMH.

@@jethrobodean8585 Are you sure you have that set screw all the way out? Maybe just remove it all the way to make sure it's not interfering with the threads?

@@typicalthrill Long story short turns, out that it is a known problem and that as long as the downrod is below most of the set screw hole it's fine.

Hola he comprado otro Hunter Exeter Costco parecido y me viene con dos tornillos chicos de diferentes tamaños y una arandela, pero en las instrucciones no me indica para que son, el ventilador esta completamente montado y funciona perfectamente, pero tengo la duda a alguien le ha pasado lo mismo?

Thank you for posting this video. I bought the exact fan, and used your instructions. Question, coming out of the ceiling box I have a black wire, white wire, green/yellow stripe wire, bare copper wire, and a "red" wire. Using a single switch. Do I tie this red wire in with the ground wires?

That’s not something I would be able to answer without seeing how it is wired in at the switch. May want to use a tester to see which wires have power to them. Bare wire is ground for sure, so you can put the negative lead on that.

@@typicalthrill My mistake, there are three switches on the wall, but only one controls the fan. Both the black and red wires are "hot" and have power to them, I checked them. Would it then be black to black, white to white, red to the blue wire on the fan, and ground to ground?

@@bodeans59 If only one switch works both the black and red wires, then attaching one to the blue wire makes sense. From what you're describing, I would have assumed one of the switches worked the red wire, and the other works the black. Either way, from what you're describing, it sounds like your wiring is right. I'm not an electrician though, so if in doubt, get a pro to take a look!

@@typicalthrill Thanks for the help! The ceiling fan I took down did not have a light fixture, the new one does. I guess the extra red wire was there in case of a fan with a light kit.

Any issues threading downrod into motor?

I did have a little trouble getting it started for some reason. That's the exact time my camera cut off, so I don't have footage of actually threading it in.

@@typicalthrill Follow up: It turns out that it is a known issue. And that as long as the downrod covers most of the hole that the set screw goes in then it's far enough down.
