Installing a DECAT on the Golf GTI!

Installed my first downpipe, cheap one off Ebay. Was good fun, thought id experiment before my full exhaust arrives. Let me know what you think below!

Which engine code does your Gti have ? There are 2 different engines for the Mk 5 Gti, ie 2 different engine codes Bwa and Axx .. Bwa is 162kw but Vw left it at 147kw in 2006 on, not to disgruntle Axx engine code owners - as they were the first lot of Mk5 Gti’s from 2005

Yeah just needed a slight wack with the hammer on the rear section to get the mid pipe in, but I reckon it’s because mines been welded in the past and isn’t quite the original length

Get the the R32 style exhaust (two pipes at the back) And install lowered springs in the rear . The rear end of the car seems to be sitting too high. Keep the videos coming 👍

Nice video, I've got the eBay downpipe with sports cat on mine, can't fault the quality but best to use an OEM gasket when fitting. Get the powerflex dogbone mount on too as this helps with fatigue on the flexi pipe.

I had a down pipe with cat-delete with OEM back box and resonator. OEM KO4@1.2bar with factory tune ECU since 2012 and no engine check light ever came up.

Nice work!! Should have put a lambda spacer on to try, fault will come on 30-60 miles down the road. Is that rear washer motor coming out, hope so, blank it off.

I would want my GTI to sound like that. I’ve been looking at them not for my first car tho I’ll be my second car after 1 year ahaha. When it comes to sound this most definitely is it not too annoying in your face yet sleek subtle

TR Hamza no problem mate i am on the same Journey with my leon. Had it 3 months and done timing belt and water pump. Cam chain and tension. Ramair filter and pipe work. And done the oil pump balance shaft delete today. Going stage 2+ next month can’t wait. Looking forward to your k04 conversion 👌🏻

3:31 the blue coolant hose on the right, what's the part number for that? I currently have a cold air intake on my Mk5 GTI, and the coolant hose is touching the intake, so I'd like to reroute it.

The middle section tapers inwards to join the rear section, no modifications required

You can get post cat lambda spacer, worked on my mk4, used to throw a fault code all the time, hasn't in over a year

Hey man. I want to do this to my car but reason why not sure . 1. Is it not illegal ? And carry’s a heavy fine 2. How will it pass mot will it need to me taken off as the old one back etc every mot ? There my reasons ?? Love the mk 5 vids that’s when I saw and sub to you man :)

Hey man, decats are usually classed as ‘for track use’ and won’t pass an MOT. You’ll have to put factory downpipe back in to pass. And thank you for sub 👌🏼

@@sinissster9657 It's hard to explain it but it makes your whole car feel tighter. Also, in my case, it felt like I had my dsg updated because the shifts are more 'on point' now. And the wheel hop is gone. Yes, the car vibrates slightly more on certain rpms but nothing you'd notice if you didn't know that the insert was mounted. It's easy to remove too if it's not in your liking. I use the yellow Powerflex one

Do you have oil consumption issues? These engines are known for drinking oil, i wonder how much oil your car "burns" and what did you do to reduce the consumption if you had any.

I think you wasted £100 there. I paid £20 to get the resonator removed on mine everything else is stock and it sounds so much better than this. The DSG farts on upshifts are insane.

Hold the revs up right through the emission test, or..... You get a tester you know just to pass it as ok

@Bercilak de hautdesert its an illegal modification, so naturally you wouldn't declare this to them. Having fraudulently made the car pass the emissions test, Me old chum MOT tester will state catalytic converter was present at time of test. As for killing someone? Not sure what you mean. Who could die from taking the CAT out?
