In the previous video we installed a hybrid ko3s turbo... But it needs better cooling! In this video we install a second hand front mount intercooler for the mk4, this requires cutting the crash bar and a bit of the bumper for a snug fit!

MAF will need scaling to run correctly. Smoke will be from oil/fluids burning off on the turbo/manifold.

@Lloyde Turner if it's an AGU motor it definitely needs it otherwise it runs lean and pop.

@Lloyde Turner not sure on the auq lump but agu uses MAF heavily for fueling. You change that without a tune it under fuels.

@@ajrveedub Thank you for the info, m8. I just installed new turbo (T3T4 maxpeedingrods). In the process of installing front mount intercooler. The car currently is with old ECU tune - 193 hp with stock k03. Can I drive it with the new turbo and cooler without a tune? My tune appointment is for next month. Bigger injectors will be installed soon.

The turbo flutter, is meaby because your bov let's the air go in the atmosphere. That wil greate back pressure and can brake your turbo. Keep up the good work dude.

Take it to technic tuning for a map. You need a vr6 MAF from a mk3. Possible new ICM by the sounds of it. You need some bugger injectors too.

It's the MAF ! ..it's a VR6 maf so you need a remap

Few teething problems mate when u map it ul be suprised don't worry I'm very very very heavy handed with mine and its bomb proof they can take alot of abuse I have all the gear to take it to stage 3cand above but can't find anyone to map it and fair play to you mate must be hard having no time for you but keep busy you'll get up there

The spluttering will be from the bigger man housing. This will have to be scaled by your tuner. Put your original maf housing on until you get it tuned as the fueling will be out

I've got an mk4 GTI myself with the same AGU engine but it came with a simple CCM (no keyless entry). Seeing that you've got a key fob and all that working, I kind of want to experiment upgrading my CCM and all I need to know to get stared is the part number of your vehicle's CCM if that's not a lot of trouble :)

Try that for the for the engine problem put the ingnition on dont start the car and dont touch any pedals leave it on for 20 seconds and then turn it off ,after 30 sec start the car, if that does not help heat up the car till the fan starts running and try again this resets the idiling program. It helped on my car (1.8t AGU) sorry for bad english XD

it does not reset the idle lol , it does throttle body alignment . this guy should try the throttle body alignment with a vagcom cause he did previously mess with the throttle body and intake .

Are you going to take the red Golf on a trackday? I took mine to the track recently, once you learn how to cope with the understeer it isn't a bad beginner track car, you have to watch the back though when the corner entry speeds increase, especially in the wet. I keep meaning to post a video of the highlights of the day.

This is a great idea but I've heard moisture can get trapped at the bottom of the cooler and eventually rust away if it's flipped like that 😩

Worst job I ever did was tryna fit a cheap eBay fmic to my mk4, took a whole weekend with lots of cutting and test fitting the bumper🤦🏼‍♂️

Would've been so much easier and leave all the pipework in place by using a TwinPass Intercooler. I can't think of anything worse than seeing a massive turbo intake pipe going over the top of the engine, and then you won't see the pipes coming out of the front bumper. But, as you say, it's on a budget. Still, it's interesting to see different ways of doing things.

The number one reason I didn't get a twin pass is because it restricts the flow, making a 180 degree turn in a crucial part of the cooling system isn't optimal

@@BWTV The flow rate is worse on twin pass, but the actual efficiency of pushing the air through a 180degree turn isn't as bad as just straight through. The air stays in longer to be cooled. I don't think it'll be noticeable on your application anyway. However, Twin pass is excellent for a fully stealth setup without having to chop anything a way. Plastic engine cover won’t fit with that ic piping, plus it looks awful. I’ve done a fmic on my tt mk1 with hidden ic pipes and looked miles better

So you instal larger intercooler, but you hide the "larger" part of it in the bumper, out of any airflow. Smart move...........

It's just for fun, and I didn't want another diesel car, I've learnt more since the last intercooler install and wanted to try it out myself instead of handing it to someone to install. The new thing is the hybrid turbo, I'm curious to see what power it can make whilst being on a budget

@@BWTV that’s a fair comment but by changing it up to say pd130 150 you would have a much wider audience because there isn’t much tuning an modification videos for pd golfs same platform just obviously different engine if your savvy enough an know where an what to buy you’ll see more power with a pd than a 1.8t the only hard purchase would be injectors on a £2000 budget at £500 for a set but definitely can be done unless second hand something to think about I suppose if you get the chance to do a series like this again
