After beeing stored in my garage for weeks it is finally time to install this massive, beautiful goods shed at the layout. I am building a concrete pad, install the building on top of it and wire the lights!

Gibt's ein Video über den Bau des Güterschuppens? Welche Basis / Grundelemente habt Ihr verwendet? Is there a video about constructing that building? Which basic parts did You use?

I'm amazed at how quickly you put these things in. it's inspiring me to get going and building. That's quite a large freight house. Will you paint your buildings at some point, or leave them as is? I like the lights, they add such a bit of realism when they're on. Makes us believe there are people working there! ;-) I look forward to seeing it as you continue and when the first trains appear with some loads to drop off and pick up!

Considering that I only work on weekends I am getting along quite fast. The building has it´s final paint job, weathering will settle in by itself :) As this area of the layout gets developt I will add lots of people and freight and other details of course. Then it will look realisic for sure!

Making some good progress. Do you think you'll be finished before winter arrives? Do you get much snow in your location?

Hi, progress has been made but right now it is somewhat slow going. I have to focus on my dayjob that unfortunately means less time for my hobby. But that will change in a few months. I won´t be even close to finish when winter arrives. But that wasn´t the plan anyways. The whole prject will take me at minimum another 2 years. I will finish track installation for the fist build section of the layout pretty soon. When winter arrives I have lots of work indoors ... building electronics for my signal box for example. We do get some snow but often times it´s just cold without any snow.

Hey das Video war echt cool aber wie immer zu kurz 😢🙈 ich finde auch die Zeitraffer cool 😊👍🏻 Ist das deine Freundin gewesen die dort mit gebaut hat 😊? Ich habe gesehen das du bis jetzt nur die Gleise in Schotter eingelegt hast 😳🙊 ich habe bedenken das es im Laufe der Zeit Setzungen gibt, planst du da noch was das es langfristig stabiler wird ohne Gefahr der Strecken Setzung 🤔😢🙊? Für die Kabel Durchführungen empfehle ich ein Zugdraht ein zu fädeln👌🏻😉 für später leichter 🤗 8:25 min Ich würde auf lange Sicht auf WAGO Klemmen gehen, da gubt es bestimmt auch eine Steck Lösung 👌🏻😊👍🏻 Hast du ein einen kompletten Gleisplan der späteren vollständigen Strecken Führung 😊? Genau wegen den Setzungen liegen die Gleise ja im Schotter und weil es gut ausschaut... gibt es eine Stelle an der die Gleislage nicht mehr passt kann man alles ganz einfach wieder ausrichten, das funktioniert super und hat sich seit Jahren bei mir und anderen Freunden bewährt. Anstelle eines Zugdrahtes habe ich gleich das Kabel eingefähdelt. Wenn das Leerrohr länger ist hätte ich aber einen gebraucht, da hast du recht. Einen vollständigen Gleisplan gibt es nicht, ich baue nach den natürlichen gegebenheiten und ändere meine Pläne ständig aufgrund neuer Probleme oder anderer, besserer Lösungen. Deshalb ist auch der weitere Streckenverlauf nur grob bekannt. Der Zugbetrieb wird über die Massoth DIMAX Zentrale gesteuert. Bei der Stellwerkselektronik habe ich noch keine fixe entscheidung getroffen.

It is custom build for me. I took over 7 months until it arrived at my house. I wouldn´t be able to scratch build something like this...

Welche Funktion hat das Gebäude?

Das Gebäude ist die maßstabsgetreue Nachbildung eines Güterschppens wie er bei der Harzer Schmalspurbahn zu finden ist. Auf meiner Modellbahn hat das Gebäude nur optische Zwecke. Wenn die Szenerie später mal mit Figuren und Ladegütern ausgestaltet ist schaut das Gebäude richtig gut aus. In einem echten Güterschppen wurden Stückgüter (Kisten, Säcke, Fässer und vieles mehr) angeliefert, zwischengelagert und für den weitertransport wieder verladen. Nach heutigen Maßstäben ein mini Logistikzentrum. Solche Güterschuppen gab es früher an fast jedem Bahnhof.
