You don't need to buy one, cut 2" off the top of the arm. Then drill it and tap it for a 3/8" stud and put a 2" Hurst ball on it. It drops the total height by 2", gets rid of that stupid stock knob, gives you the same short throws and retains the arms offset to the left and rear which brings the knob closer to you than that straight arm you bought does. This method is cheaper and more ergonomic. You can also keep the stock boot this way, plus you get a Hurst ball out of the deal which is always gonna feel better.

Now that I have the Rodney Dickman short shifter, I can see why the factory one is designed the way it is. I'm considering getting a stock shifter. The short one has less leverage so you will find it more difficult to shirt. Unfortunately these old 80s 5 speeds are not a smooth shifting golden age Honda. Its rough. I kind of hate the short shifter lol. Just my experience with it!! Take it with a grain of salt. Maybe yours is smooth as butter as you'll be ok.

I’m a bit confused, is this just shortening the shifter or is this actually shortening the shift distances between gears. I watched a BBC series where the one guy buys the car and the other fixes it up for resale and when he did a short throw shifter on a ford focus there was more to it than just cutting down the shifter and even then there was only so much that could be done.

where did you get your fire extinguisher bracket for the center console, i have been having a hard time trying to find one

Would the shifter linkage or anything have to do with mine being sorta hard to get into reverse? I wouldn’t say it’s the transmission because every other gear is easy to go into but I’m no mechanic

I would definitely start with shifter cables before you go into the trans. But you could try lubricating the linkage mechanism on the trans itself

All Fieros are like this, you have to drop it into 2nd (this will stop it from grinding when it engauges reverse) and slap it over into reverse. You can't be gentle with these transaxles, they like a little violence. I've had 4 Fieros for about 27 years now, I know them quite well.
