Wondering if you can share the process of how you hooked it up to the alexa. I also have a taloya light and it's linked to my alexa but when I ask her to turn my light on or off or anything she tells me "bedroom doesn't support that" the only way I've found it to work is to predefine a phrase like "turn the bedroom light on" to get it to turn on but if I miss a single word it won't work. I'd appreciate any help, thanks!

Hey Jocelyne! Its been so long ago now, I honestly don't remember the process I used. However, I have run into an issue with smart devices and Alexa in general if I name the device the same thing as something that Alexa has defined as a room. Like in the kitchen, I changed my kitchen island lights to just "island lights" and Alexa responds better when I use voice commands. Hope that helps! Cheers

hay I was looking at the weird sprinkler system by your vent then I realized that where the swing was lol I kinda like the ceiling fan better can you ad the light to the ceiling fan ?

You could rig something together, I'm sure. But I didn't want the fan in the room. And I think the LED's rely on indirect lighting to cast more light. Cheers!

Question. How do the lights respond to the light switch being turned off? Does it take a while for it to reconnect or does it have a reserve battery to remain connected to Wi-Fi when turned off

So I am having an issue getting mine to turn on at all. I removed the old light/fan and connected the black/black and white/white wires. In the conjunction box there is 3 separate romex wires coming out. One from the right and two on the left. The one on the right has a black, white, and ground wire. One on the left is the exact same and the other only has black and white. The two that are the same are connected via ground. The two on the left are connected by blacks and whites, while the new light is connected to the one coming from the right. I cannot seem to find a fix anywhere.

Lol we have the exact same phone casing! Can this light only be adjustable via an app? Any way to connect the dimmer function to a physical dimmer switch?

Hey Greg! That was like 5 phone cases ago...I go through them... a lot. I am not sure if you could connect a dimmer switch to it. I would think that since the LEDs themselves are dimmable that if you connected a physical dimmer switch it would dim the light. But can't say 100% Cheers!

What is the default power-on status of that weight? Does it go to full-on bright after a power failure? Or to the most recently used setting? I can’t get a straight answer to this from the Amazon seller.

Hey John, After a power failure it comes on at 70% brightness in the last "white" color you had it on. Does that make sense? Cheers!

I feel like there's this war on ceiling fans lately... I could never get rid of mine. I live in the damn desert and I need the air moving. Sure it dries out my eyes occasionally, but the alternative is a higher electric bill. Great video as usual my man.

Thanks, brother. Believe me, I'm in Houston and we use our ceiling fans. But the one in this room was too low. Fortunately, that room has its own thermostat, etc. so the temp can be regulated separately.

@@BuildDadBuild Understandable. My upstairs/downstairs is separate, but it's still too much of an open floor plan to be affordable. I'll just live with dry eyes for now. I could see the height being an issue. That fan was an absolute monster. I bet it moved some air though!

Hey so the light isnt blinking. Do you have to use the clips when connecting the wires to have it go to pairing mode? I just used some old wire nuts to connect and I cant get the light to blink rapidly

I wouldn't think so. I mean...a wire connection is a wire connection. I don't think there's anything special about those clips.

So do you have to have an "Alexa" dot or something to get it to turn on or does it "listen" itself? Hope that makes sense.

You can operate it from an app or a smart device. It does not "listen" itself. Cheers

Did your ceiling fan have 1 or 2 wall switches? Mine has 2. One to turn on the lights and 1 for the blade power. I am looking at a similar light install and have replaced many fans and light fixtures in the past but never replaced a fan fixture with a double wall switch with a single light fixture. What do I do about the 2 wall switches? I have googled but results haven't quite answered this question. thanks

It had 2. However, when that ceiling fan was installed it is designed to only be on one switch. Both the fan and the light can be controlled via a remote. The contractor just capped the second "hot" wire (usually black or red). The defunct switch on the wall does drive me a bit nuts and I will probably pull it out or repurpose it at some time in the future. Cheers!

@@BuildDadBuild Thanks. I probably need to dig a little deeper. I keep going back and forth on possibly just installing 2 light fixtures. I just don't like the idea of capped live wires. On a separate note. The light you have now. How well would you say just the upper ring "throws" out light? Can that portion be set to straight white too or is it just colored?

@@MrWecantstophere The upper ring only does color. The center of the light does a spectrum of white light from warm to daylight. It throws color pretty good. The room I put it in is fairly large and it seems to work well.

Absolutely! The one in this pic is the 12" and would do well in a gym. amzn.to/2Crw6lz The room I have it in is fairly large 18X12 and puts out plenty of light. Cheers!

If your doing a workout room a fan might be a better idea to move some air around as well even if you don't need it to cool the place circulating the air would be good.

Do these Taloya Smart Ceiling Lights require a Neutral Wire to work? I ask this because the most Alexa Compatible Devices require this kind of wiring. Thank you.

No. The "white" light only cycles through the white range (yellow to daylight). Cheers

Folks with an Amazon device will know...but if you're watching the video within Alexa's "earshot" the commands will active the viewer's device. Cheers! 👍🥃👍🥃

I bought this light taloya and im about to chuck it like a frisbee… installed a ton of fixtures… it twist locks into place supposedly.. i cant get the thing to catch to save my life

Is it flickering or is it blinking? Blinking means it's in pairing mode.

@@aarizhassan3906 there should be a little button (if Im remembering correctly) in the app that says sync or something. Or you may have to find the wifi signal under wifi on your phone's settings.

If its my house ill just flick my finger on hot and see if theres a shock. I know your not suppose too but ive always done it that way. If its someone elses im always afraid someones watching so i just do it the correct way and bring out the multimeter.
