Thx for posting up these videos. I’ve built one out of a plastic tote with the water heater thermostat. I’m really liking this electronic thermostat, can you post a video on how to wire it up with the two bulb setup. Thanks and keep making these great videos.

You can program the W1209 so it does not cycle so often. Press and hold the SET button for a few seconds and you get the P0 to P6 menu. P0 selects whether you want the W1209 for cooling or for heating. P1 selects the hysteresis temperature range. It is 0.1 by default but you can increase it so it will not cycle so often. Also, if the load is significant, say above 100 W, then it might be better to add an external relay to protect the small on-board relay.

I would first likee to say thank you for your kindnes and help, you helped me 3yrs ago with this model. I will no longer use this model being that it never resets, and it gets bricked too easy. Though i would like to pick your brain and ask, what is the most efficient yet easy to set up thermostat that you eould recomend?

hey buddy, thanks to you I got 2 incubators going, everything seems pretty good, I had an idea that mabey you can perfect, one of NY incubators is either really high in humidity or borderline low, I was thinking of those glade automatic air fresheners, if we could get water in the tube instead of scented aroma, it comes with a timer per spray and I think it would help regulate the humidity during the cold season. oh and one more question, what other economic option do I have to make my own automatic egg turner, any other motor out there that's less expensive than the 13 dollar ones at IW, thanks buddy.

Hello . Thanks for the insightful video. Just a small question . I have been using a tiny fan with a w1209 thermostat with no problem. I'm using mains 240v stepping it down with a small 300mA adapter. Since I wanted a bigger incubator, I went for a bigger computer CPU fan rated 0.40A. Funny thing is as soon as I connect the bigger fan, the thermostat flickers then the 40w bulb goes off completely. What could be the problem. Thank you in advance sir.

Hi. Great video. I bought one of these for 2 purposes. Both are for home brewing beer. 1 is a bit like an incubator(fermenting chamber) when fermenting lager beers they have to be at low temperature 12°C & consistent. So for that project I plan to use a fridge in my shed that has no power. Do you think if I used a car battery and a car light bulb in the fridge (obviously battery outside fridge) it would work.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors

Rookie Brew That should work well as the amperage draw is so low the car battery should last a long time! A marine battery would almost last forever...

Wade, as always, thank you for your great videos. Love them and looking forward to much learning from you. A few quick questions: would you recommend this 12V DC Digital Temp Controller over the STC-1000? Why or why not? Also, where do you purchase your 12V DC Digital Temp Controller from?
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
I have found both digital controllers the be very effective at incubating and hatching chicken eggs!!! The 12volt DC model W1209 is more sensitive than the STC-1000... but the only big advantage that the w1209 has over the STC-1000 is cost... The STC-1000 is twice as expensive as the little w1209 12volt DC controller. Go to ebay and enter 12volt DC digital temp controller and you will see the controller that looks like the one in the video! Usually around 6 to 7 bucks!

Curious, with the set up you've shown us with the light bulbs and this STC-1000, what kind of limitations would there be, if any, if I try to set them up in a regular (full size) upright freezer chest as shown to the left of this picture: solarhomestead.com/how-to-choose-a-freezer/?

@HomesteadinginSC
@HomesteadinginSC 9 жыл бұрын
The controller should come with a list of specs... it should tell you the capacity of the internal relay. As long as the capacity is 10 amps or better and if you're using light bulbs as a heat source, you wont need a SSR.
@smithsanctuary3397
@smithsanctuary3397 9 жыл бұрын
Rush Lane Poultry & Game Birds Ok, I looked at the listing again and it says "Output: 1 relay output, capacity = 10A" www.ebay.com/itm/231496253068?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have hooked up everything to the coolerbator and the thermostat has power and shows numbers. But it does not turn the lightbulb on and the little red led does not come one and off like your does. Is it possible that my 12 volt dc is not good enough? It is a very old small black box and says output 12 volt dc 200 mA. Any help is greatly appreciated - I have my hatching eggs waiting for this to get going, they are already 4 days old so I hope I can pull this together in a couple of days. Thanks!!!

I have a question about this thermostat, I have this installed on my incubator made from the R7 2" Styrofoam from the depot. I am using cabinet incubator 125watt heating elements (2 of them, might be overkill) but my issue is if I put the sensor where the eggs are it takes too long for the sensor to pick up the heat and by that time it's too hot. I have two fans in it one blows to the front and one that blows across. Should I place the sensor between the elements so it shuts off fast and just keep a thermometer down by the eggs to monitor?

Is the air completely circulating trough out the box. Mining taking the hot air from heating element to all places in the incubator?. Are the fans powerful to move the air? cfm....Do not know the capacity of the box cubic foot but two heaters are to much.

hey buddy I really need help with lowering the humidity, I tried baking soda, socks in rice, even added an extra fan, nothing works, I live in mexico in Cancun so its very humid, average humidity is 75/85 on any given day, when I did the 24 hour stabilize it was at 40 humidity, once I put the eggs in slowly but surely it skyrocketed, went up to sixty, the only thing that worked to get it down to 53/54 humidity was turning off the fans, so day one was fans on day 2 still air, right now its at 102.1 with 53/54 humidity, I would like to get it down so I can use the 99.5 f any tips I heard aluminum helps?

I've got the thermostat working and the LED changes at the set temperature, however the fan I've attached won't power on. 12V 0.5A Imput (AC adapter supplied from the fan) W1209 themostat (Output 12V 10A) To 12V 0.5A Fan - (7W on label) I can power the fan from a different 9V 1A (9W) adapter with reduced performance. It's been a while since I did any electronics/physics, I'm guessing the thermostat transformed the current up to 10A and this is causing the fan not to work, would someone be able to offer an explanation / solution?
