Stop clicking on his video's then and go else where. Its a big wide world of tutorials out there; Good Luck! Sorry Eli had to say something.

This by far the best step-by-step guide to Windows Server 2012. Compared to TechNets info database, this is like simple math. I greatly appreciate the amount of work you've put into this. I mean the whiteboard explanation, followed by the hands-on tasks are really a great combination. You are so in depth but still explaining it so 5 year old would have no troubles following through. Hi Eli, How are you? I just want to say a big thank you for all the hard work you put in to making brilliant videos on KZfaq that help people such as myself and many others worldwide. I am just 19 years old and only just starting my career working within the IT industry, it’s something I have always wanted to do for a very long time however when I was in education I never got the change to study IT due to my learning difficulty and having dyslexia I was always told by the school I wasn’t good enough to be in the class! Oh well that’s just another story, after leaving school I managed to show the teachers I was a good lad and I managed to get myself an IT apprenticeship which brings me to now. I am currently trying to learn to set my own virtual network up so I am basically in the process of setting up windows server, I was just wondering if you could send me a structure of each videos I should watch in the correct order? I would be happy to pay you for your time if you could provide me with the order list that would be fantastic. Kind Regards, Kieren

I didn't see him set the server IP address to static that is common practice
@NathanGodding4549 жыл бұрын
Even though it is common practise (in other words I agree with you), just typing the system's display name into Windows explorer or remote desktop will query the dhcp device (router, other machine, raspberry pi, windows server itself) and ask how to contact that machine. Maybe that's why?
@joedomos38579 жыл бұрын
Afro samurai Good point, but he actually does that just prior to the next step which is Basic DHCP Setup. My 2 cts on this topic: I used to set each and every server to a static IP, until I realized that management down the road was much easier with DHCP reservations (because you don't need to connect to the machine to simply add/change/remove dns/gw etc). So, pure non-DHCP static, in my 2015's book, is now a formal requirement only for network-class services, namely DHCP servers, name servers, routers, access points, gateways...
