Installing Bulletpoint RubiGrid Metal Dash Mount Phone Holder & Action Camera Mount | F-150 2021+

I needed a better way to mount my GoPro and cell phone on my 14th Gen F-150 Tremor. I compared a few different mounting solutions and decided on the Bulletpoint RubiGrid Metal Dash Mount. If you are looking at similar solutions, I almost went with the mount from BuiltRight Industries. They both looked like they would do the job well, but the Bulletpoint mount had a 1/4" screw which makes it more versatile especially with the new GoPro 1/4" mount capability - this is what most tripod mounts use.

In this video, I installed the Bulletpoint RubiGrid Metal Dash Mount on my F-150 Tremor. The installation would be similar in any of F-150 trim levels (you just might not have the center speaker - which makes it even easier).
I appreciated that the drill bit, small philips screwdriver, and the trim tool came with the kit!
I am not going to lie, the idea of drilling into the dash/trim, did not excite me. I had to make some small modifications, but everything turned out great. If you are looking at purchasing/installing one of these, make sure you order the right one for your truck's model year as there are variations. Hopefully, you can learn from my mistakes...
Tools Needed:
-Trim Tool (comes with kit)
-Drill
-7mm Ratchet
-Painters Tape (Recommended, but not required)

Great vid. I also have an F-150 Tremor. My mount arrived today. Thanks for running ne thru the install. PS: I live in Mexico where on road qualifies for off road anywhere else. I am going to go ahead, bite the bullet and put in the four other reinforcing screws.

First of all, this an amazing step by step video that has been very helpful for me to decide on a product. This comment is directed at the product design. I had a Bulletpoint mount in my Gen-12 F150 which utilized a combination of existing screw holes in the dash and double sided tape. Worked great. I am on the fence about buying one for my Gen-14. It’s really unfortunate to have to drill 9+ holes in the dash of your $60k+ truck to make this thing work, and looked like there were about 4 more holes he chose not to drill. He even laughs uncomfortably at the beginning in the same breath he says “drill some holes”. Even more so, its supposed to fit “perfectly” in the scoop of the dash, but then the mounting screws interfere with the clips on the panel. You can only pull those clips out so many times until your dash just rattles indefinitely. Do you think I could opt for double sided automotive tape to avoid the holes in the dash? Otherwise, you may have just convinced me to look for a different option. Again, thanks for the informative video.

I’m glad you found the video helpful. I can say that I was reluctant to drill the holes, but all of the major mounts (from all of the competing mounts) required it as well. I have been using it for a while and it is great - solid like it came with the truck. Your question about automotive tape “might” work, but it depends on what you will be using on the platform. If you plan on using any arms, I would not recommend the tape, just because of the bumps and weight over time. Thank you for watching!

Does your truck have the cameras built in that watch the drive? Does this keep your phone out of the way of those so the truck doesn't keep warning you?
