Before I know it, the weather will be hot and dry. It is time to install the drip irrigation system in our fenced in vegetable Garden. The drip system I have is from "Rain Bird" and I bought it at Menards a few years ago. It is hooked up to a programmable timer, so it waters automatically. Just one feature that makes it a maintenance free vegetable garden.

I have raised beds and I want drip irrigation because it’s so hot here and I know they will dry out. Maybe I can get someone to put it in for me. It is amazing how you can do all those different projects and they work great. I love watching your videos because I learn a lot. Keep making videos and I will keep watching. It is so humid and the heat index here in Alabama is 98. Keep cool and don’t get too hot. Stay safe.

Idea...Attach the short green hose to the top of the post across from the water pipe and then you can run UNDER it with the lawn mower.

It is hot enough to do two cycles a day. One in early am and another about 1pm. I learned not to water in late pm as that is mot when plants need it. Late pm watering results in root rot, mildew, mold fungi and poor plant health. I hardened from age 6 on the farm until age 60. Loved my gardens and sure enjoy watching yours grow.

When you started putting the black tubing out, I thought, why is he laying it outside of the raised bed? Wow, what a set up. So much work! But I guess you do not have to water for hours. Although I always liked to go to my allotment and water, it is very relaxing, after work. But you also have the animals to look after so an automatic system makes sense.

i use a float valve system, the pressure is released when the sponge dries out on a float valve, once it lifts up enough it releases the water over the plants in need of water, then shuts off once wet enough and heavy enough to close the valve again...

Hey, I started putting down the landscape fabric today. Im putting in the staples about every 18" - 24" . Does that sound about right? Thanks for the videos. Very helpful.

As long as the soil isn't loose and is firm. The staples every 2 to 3 feet will be ok.

@@CountryViewAcres I tilled it. Then realized it was too loose for staples. Ran the riding mower over it. Used the mower deck to level it too. Worked well.

Evan, is your water from a well or from city water main. Could you not pump it from the pond, certainly have more nutrients from the pond.

Technically, the emitters have a pressure range for proper function, and elevation changes add or remove head. But it appears you are within 3’ vertical either way from your regulator. If it is a 15 psi regulator, 3’ is about 1.5 psi more on the lower end and less on the upper. It appears the upper feeds the inner raised beds and the flat rows. You’re probably ok, but if it appears that upper raised bed is too dry and you can’t compensate with emitters, you could put in a Tee above your regulator and branch off to a second section and install another regulator for that. I’m guessing the aggregate flow rate is low enough that dynamic (friction) head loss won’t be much of an issue, but flow might add up more than I figure. How many 1 gph emitters are running at once? There are 1/2” main lines (also with 1/2” sub lines) and 1/4” sub lines, so watching your max flow might be important. All easily solvable. Just watch that flow at the end is as expected, especially on the 1/4” runs. Those labyrinth emitters that the 1/4” line was extruded around are reasonably pressure compensated, but there are limits. Nice setup, and you’re keeping it much neater and clamped in place much better than I did on my home flower beds. Our research drip irrigation system and our center pivots were much higher quality than my home one! Good job.

Hi from Australia. Love your channel, keep up the good work. I've been meaning to ask, have you thought about putting a hydroelectric system on the outlet of the pond overflow? You would get free electricity s long is the water is flowing
