Hi Billy, i'm a steelwork draughtsman and a time served fabricator and i'll say that the notching looks spot on! I will say its quite easy for the beam to tip over when lifting like that, so when lifting the next one i would recommend clamping the bottom flange of the beam to the lift so that the beam can't tip over or move around on the lift when lifting or moving the lift around! Great job though!
@ThePethericks22 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion i have a few steels clamps definitely worth attaching it! great idea

I was thinking the same thing. Needs to be clamped to the forks. I think that you were genuinely alone for once. You really do need a second person with you when working at heights to get help if anything untoward happens.

I have been wondering about the placement of the I-beams over the lintels…if perfectly level the load is born on the locations where the beams are into the masonry. It really calls for a C along the walls with the window and bolted into the wall, but if you add a cross and embed each end it then takes that load off the lintels which really are not supporting it properly as it is.

Billy, You had all the toys on show in this vlog. The hoist .the lift,the welder and your hand tools .Your camera to document the work. Then we witnessed you working along on a potentially dangerous job of cutting ,lifting and tack welding that RSJ in the air by yourself. Just because you can do that does not mean you should. SAFETY is practiced for a reason . To prevent injury and death. To have nothing happen is a blessing this time ,for you ,for Gwen ,for the boys and all your family,friends and viewers. But it has documented that you can take needless risks. if it came down to an Insurance Claim for compensation for injuries received or fatel loss. The case would be denied. Please do not document unsafe behaviour to viewers who might be encouraged to work unsafely by themselves. I know your vlogs are made an entertainment and not instructional. But better SAFE than Sorry. You have a great team at the Convent and The Chateau. I love all the things you do and have posted .You are a measured, thoughtful ,hardworking guy who is kind ,respectful and has vision .
