You are really smart to get these long term projects done in your 40s and 50s and are building them to last. As a 68 year old with a cabin in the woods I am very thankful I did the heavy long term work at your age and its all holding up well when heavy hard labor is more difficult now.

That was HUGE amount of work building that foundation of your fence with all the bracing and painting. This video brings it all together as to why. I didn't go your route when I was your age or younger. Now I am 60 and get to pay someone to help put in new fencing. I can help but just not enough time in the day and I am not 35 anymore. But, you have smart thinking.. do things right once, so it will last through your farming retirement well into your 70's.

Evan, your attitude about getting the hard jobs done right while you are still young is right on. I'm now 77 years old and cannot do the things that I used to do. Very frustrating at times. Many of the things that you plan on doing after you retire you will find you can't because you are no longer physically able. It sucks but that's the way it is. You are doing a great job taking care of your property. Keep it up. I'm watching.

Evan - It must be nice to be given fencing and a company guy to help you, you are blessed ! The Bekaert man is right about native and untreated wood fences can grow to look crooked, especially if you use native tree wood (like Hedge) for your posts as they don't grow straight and they are not cured and you'd be surprised how many farmers use Hedge in their fence lines. That rain was just what you needed on those hay fields where you put on the fertilizer !

Looks great. I did my backyard dog fence mostly the same way. I rented a post pounder for the 8" wooden posts. Saves time and no waiting on concrete. I used the same fencing, but traditional ties on the Tee posts. I love the fixed knot fencing. The gripples are very expensive, but I can't tie high tensile wire well so I just have to suck it up and pay for the gripples.

Now that is what you call a really useful sponsorship, you have a great product and an expert to help you install it, which will be a maintenance-free fence for the next 40+ years and still look good. And now you know what to do and how to do it, we can all look forward to every fence on the property looking as good, and not just the front paddock along the roadside. The only problem is you will need to keep that road verge nice and tidy so everyone can enjoy your fence as they drive by.
