We're installing a pre-made gauge package from Pontoon Stuff in this video. MOST of this information will still apply if you're installing new gauges or reinstalling your old gauge panel after updating your boat. We will do a video in the future where we install gauges individually that did not come pre-packaged and pre-wired. So subscribe and stay tuned!

Great job- very helpful for me and my project. What other companies have you purchased gauge sets from? I'm thinking Tach, Fuel, Volt and Speed.

Aside from gauges made by specific motor brands I’ve pretty much stuck to Faria. They seem to last the longest. They’ll all hook up very similarly or the same. Instructions will always come with and tell you which posts take which wires.

Are the speedometer gauges 3" that come with this cluster? Mine came with a pitot tube style speedometer and I want to order a GPS. I thought that it automatically came GPS but was wrong.

This kit is from a couple years ago when they were sourcing them from elsewhere using these Faria gauges. Email me a picture of the panel you're working with and let me know how long ago you ordered it. TomsPontoons@gmail.com The last one I installed from them had Sierra "Lido" gauges and had the GPS Speedo. You might be able to swap yours out if you have one of the kits that have the Mercury style gauges.

Your content is excellent. Thank you. Did you consider a toggle switch (Tank1/Tank2) and just one fuel gauge, then you can keep the voltmeter gauge on the dash panel?

I didn’t even think of that, but I love the idea if that’s possible without losing accuracy from the sending wire!

@@tomspontoons I've wired two boats with the toggle switch between the gauges. One has lasted so far about 20 years so I think it's a good plan. Great videos Toon man!

Thanks for the video. I have a Yamaha and theres also have a red wire from the control box along with the 3 shown. Am I correct to assume that I do not need this wire if im using the guages only when ignition is on?

Correct. I believe that red wire is just an accessory power wire that feeds from the outboard. Honestly not even sure what you'd power with it, but adds the option as an additional power source for an accessory.

What bit in your drumel do you use when cutting the consoles for gauges etc..

1/8” Multi-Purpose Bit by Dremel. $5 at Home Depot! I cut aluminum panels, wood, and plastic with mine and the bit is still going strong.

These were from Pontoon Stuff, but they’re currently unavailable…have been for almost 6 months. As soon as they become available again I’ll do another video and get a link!

Hi, I have a new boat and noticed my water pressure gauge is the only gauge that isn't illuminated. Any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated. Thanks

The bulbs in your gauges are replaceable, they just twist out from the back side. Check the bulb, and check the little brass fittings that supply power and ground to the bulb. I've had some of those brass fittings be bent or not in contact with power or ground of the bulb, and just had to bend them in to contact the bulb better. Lastly, make sure the power wire to the bulb (usually blue from the factory) is connected from another gauge to the pressure gauge. They typically piggy back the power across all the backlight bulbs. Hope this helps!

Hi Tom. I've been using your videos as a guide in restoring a 200d Parti Kraft pontoon. It has a 2016 DF50A Suzuki Outboard motor. I cannot seem to get an answer as to what color the wire is the power on wire to connect to the "I" post on my fuel gauge as shown in this video. Can you answer this for me? You show a blue, a purple and a gray. Or am I missing something? Thank you. Your videos are fantastic.

According to the chart I reference for outboard wiring for Suzuki your “key on power” or ignition wire is gray. So that will power your gauges. For Mercury and Evinrude the key on power is purple. It varies brand to brand unfortunately!

Electrical accessories have been hard to get lately, especially for the marine industry. They sometimes have the “blanks” which are the accent panels without gauges or switches. I’ll be doing a video coming up where we make a custom gauge panel from scratch.

Is it a Yamaha brand tachometer? Every aftermarket brand of gauge has different adjustments for the tach pulse/pole signal.

Wiring your gauges in shouldn’t impact your ignition or starter on your motor. Double check all battery and ignition connections!

@@tomspontoons yes that is what I figured,I'm thinking maybe in the control box or wiring harness the person I'm doing the work for said the boat has not been started in 2 1/2 yrs

@@tomspontoons I have an update I got the dash completely rewired ,everything perfect,got the motor to spin (it was neutral safety switch ) got one day left in the restoration only to find out the motor is seized, so it's now on its way for a new outboard when I'm done
