DISCLAMER:
Gulikit Type A Joystick Module: This model is designed for Steam Deck Type A Stick. Which replacement thumbsticks you need, navigate to Settings → System → Steam Deck Controller ID. If the Controller ID starts with “MEDA”, that device uses a Type A thumbstick, then this joystick is perfect for you. If the Controller ID starts with “MHDA”, that device uses a Type B thumbstick.
Video above is a walkthrough on how to install the hall effects sensor joysticks for the Steam Deck. In my opinion these joysticks have the smallest dead zones and are extremely sensitive. 100% a must have upgraded on the Steam Deck experience. I will never turn back to the original joysticks.

Yep, snapped a 1TB in half by not removing it. The funny part was that I removed the SD card when opening to install a larger SSD…then I put it back in. Then I realized that I put one of the internal screws in wrong and needed to reopen to swap screws. Didn’t realize I snapped it in half till I turned it back on.

I don't know about you all, but I've been inducted into the steam deck trackpad master race. My thumbs always hurt using a joystick (growing up I was a keyboard and mouse player, so I don't have years of experience with controllers). Yes, I know I am pushing them too hard wanting my character to move faster lol. But, it's a hard habit to change. Long story short, the steam deck trackpads are perfect. No joystick drift and not thumb pain. I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I wanted to share. Also, if anyone has tips on how to break the habit of using a joystick in a way where your thumb hurts, please do let me know!
@RetroRepairYT
@RetroRepairYT Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your info on this, I never really personally tried to break the habit of using thumb sticks. If you haven't tried to steam controller, it sounds like you would be up your alley. They use pretty much over glorified two huge left and right track pads. Kind of like the steam deck but with one less joystick.

You can get silicone/rubber joystick caps. JSAUX caps will keep capacitive sensing for gyro. I prefer convex tops, so for my left joystick, I adhered a rubber dome drawer bumper, and secured it with an earbud foam pad. I love using the right trackpad for aiming: faster, precise turning, no deadzone, no drift. Just see the videos on my channel :)

just ordered a solder station, adjustable helping hand, and some rosin flux so I can finally install this into my steam deck. Next I will be going after the anti-glare screen used in the 512 GB model and placing it into my 64 GB model. Then I will add a transparent red back plate. Already added a 1 TB nvme drive. I see these sticks as an upgrade for my deck, since hall effect sticks not only never drift, but also happen to be more accurate as well.

To me it is, I've been using this for about 5 months straight and it has been a better upgrade for me. The travel distance is very short. It feels like I'm playing on my Xbox elite controller but on the steam deck. Even though it has an issue of having squared wide areas if you rotate max distance. I haven't seen where it has messed me up in games . Ultimately it's your decision but imo I'm still loving the change

Damn yesterday my gulikits Sticks arrived.... I am so afraid for the soldering process
@RetroRepairYT

I can understand that anxiety. I would suggest finding a device in your home that is broken and opening it and strip a loose wire and just soldering it to a contact on the broken device and keep doing that (soldering on and off in different spots) until you feel confident. It's the same procedure that you will end up doing on those sticks that arrived. Some tips would be try not to burn the board and only apply enough heat to melt the solder. And the biggest tip is when in doubt use flux on anything you're soldering or desoldering. I wish you the best of luck. You can do this
