There are different schools of thought about load distribution in a consumer unit. Personally , I don't put all the high current circuits closest to the main switch by default, after all, how long a time period is a electric shower going to be active in any 24 hour period in a domestic setting ? I tend to balance the loads ( heat wise ) across the consumer unit rather than concentrate them.

Very nice! And thanks for your opinion on ring circuits. I agree 100 per cent, except where a lot of sockets are on a very long cable run, in which case an intelligently layed out ring can be better in terms of volt drop. But even then, one could start the radial with a larger cable, and reduce the size later in the circuit (a 32A could start in 6mm and reduce to 4mm further down).

Nice, We are getting into the electronic switches too. Wifi switches and receptacles seems to be popular here. Electrical trade is going more electronic all the time as new ways to do old things. Every receptacle in a house here must be arc fault protected so that adds about $1000+ to the electrical installation bill. Love the videos and please keep they coming. Would like to see the mains coming into a house from the utility and going to the meter socket. Conduit is used to the electrical panel.100 amp services here is common for average house with 200 amp for bigger residences. Thanks from this old burnt out electrician in Canada.

Not the breaker as such. The Fire panel circuit is kept separate to everything else, and you can label it with a red ident so its hard to mistakenly isolate it. An engraved fused outlet is installed adjacent to the panel.

Hi Thomas hope all’s good. Wondered if one day you could explain what the neutral wire does? Lots of conflicting info. on the net and everyone has their own way of explaining and would be good to hear from you. My understanding is that it is common to all three phases and is connected to the star point at the local substation. The neutral therefore carries current but no voltage as there is no potential difference as the phases cancel each other out. You therefore don’t get a shock by touching it on its own. The star point is also referenced to earth at the substation providing additional protection against shock. When connected to a load and a phase conductor there is a potential difference present at 230v and current flows. Is that understanding correct or not? Kind regards, Steve

Your board is so neat and tidy, but as a panel builder in Ireland I am happy that the set-up of board/trunking/board etc would never happen here, normally contractor has a bespoke board built complete with all switchgear and knx in it together usually all wired to terminals with usually about 25% spare space for future use, it means you only have one thing to mount with one door and all in one enclosure. Board also comes complete with terminal matrix which explains all circuits. Drop me a line and I'll sort you out😂😂

your putting a knx cable into a dali device? i hope you mean dali on dali, since youhave a dali knx gateway... also, i see you use the of the best things about KNX, its open, so different manufacturers, your using GIRA for the psu and the gateway, and theben for the switching of the normal non-dali lamps, quite nice. i used dali in a big gym to control the lighting, in a building that has KNX, and i build out a little gimmic making the light "wave" trough the gym, now the maintainance guy can show of the lights using that. they even use that function to get attention if the break on a game is almost over and stuff, to get people back into the gym.

@anti4354
@anti4354 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if there's something special about UK regulations regarding this, but in rest of Europe you just use 4mm2 cables instead of the standard 2.5mm2. Then again, why would a standard socket in a flat or house be over 16A? Just out of curiosity because I've never seen a standard household socket strip have over a 16A breaker. I would understand for devices not connected to sockets (like air-air or water-air heating pumps) to have over 16A, but never a regular standard socket where you would plug in like say, a TV. As a side note, wire size for household socket circuits are often bigger than 2.5mm2 if you have long lines, because the short circuit current becomes too low so the breaker doesn't trip and one way to increase short circuit current is to increase the cross section.

KNX, CBUS and Dali!! Fitted a dimmer switch for an elderly couple a while back whose son recommended it would be a good addition to their living room lighting plan... Had three call back's from the couple saying it worked the odd time and sometimes the light was not bright enough!! In the end you guessed it I replaced it with the old on/off switch... Smart lighting is not for all... Guess it will take a few generation's to completely adapt to it...

The reality is it doesn’t make blind bit of difference where the loads go. It’s just something all electricians do on single phase boards, get to three phase boards or bus bar chambers and the loads will be all over the place.
@absolutebin4611
@absolutebin4611 6 жыл бұрын
It’s always been good practice to install the higher current rating MCB’s closest to the main Switch to descending current loads. We Drive on the left because predominantly most people during the medieval times as of today are right handed. So knights passed each other on the left to utilise their right hands which would draw the swords. It’s remained the same ever since. As your Swedish, you should be more concerned about the cucked state or your nation.
