Finding reliable rebuilders that can also find parts for these cars is almost impossible. I wish I went your route, I waited 2 years basically for mine from forwardmotioninc and it was a nightmare getting answers. Loving the build keep it up

it was a pain as well, between 3 broken transmissions I still had to buy 2 gear clusters and then get some odds and ends. But thats why I went to someone who should have them sourced lol.

Brand new trans should not be hard to get into gear. My 98 gsx had a built trans from Jack's and I was told to use 70 140 gear lube so I had the same problem until I switched to 70 90. I also had another problem with my clutch pedal. Check yours and make sure there isn't a crack by the hole where the master rod goes. Had to remove the pedal and weld it. My clutch is a 2600 so maybe that's why lt cracked.

it got quite a bit easier after a few shifts and I need to do a flush at 1000 miles. Im using 80w-90 right now and will switch to 75w-90 redline once flushed. im sure the 75 will help as well. He did mention that it may be 'stuck' the first time or something along those lines, but shifting is overall better now. Im pretty sure 1st will get even easier after a few more shifts. My clutch pedal should be okay it was set up by Dynotune racing and ill double check for clutch drag again. I looked by the master and it's all normal

Honestly should of tossed that money towards a ppg set up. Stock "built" transmissions are just a stop gap solution.

Clutch drag test it. Also, you NEED that second bolt for the carrier bearing. If the po removed the ac bracket, you will have to shim it.
@CrispyImmy
@CrispyImmy 11 ай бұрын
never had shifting issues past 2 times the transmissions been on (this is the 3rd transmission during my ownership technically). why do u need the second bold? I would have to remove the alternator, jays racing bracket (i think) and then drill it out of the car, since i couldn't get a drill to fit inside, Weird thing is there is a hole, but its too small for the regular bolt. Maybe I can fit a smaller bolt instead?
@AWD_T
@AWD_T 11 ай бұрын
@@CrispyImmy The one bolt holding the carrier bearing will come loose eventually and you'll start to hear a clunk when you're off and on the gas. I did the same on my 2g and it took me a while to figure out the issue. One bolt just isn't enough to support the entire axle. When I got my 1g, that's one of the first things I checked and sure enough there was a snapped bolt and no ac bracket. Only the 1 bolt (closest to the wheel) goes through the ac bracket. Use a mirror from up top and you'll be able to see the bolt hole.

@@AWD_T thought i replied to this but yeah, my bolt close to transmission is in, and its solid, every time ive checked it, it's been tight, so i'll keep an eye on it for now. Also the bracket doesnt move at all whenever i grab /shake it those times. There is some bracket there closer to the wheel with a hole, but the hole is too small. I definitely dont wanna have to pull the bracket to do so lol. You mentioned shimming, i assume for the wheel side bolt. The trans side bolt is flush.
@AWD_T
@AWD_T 11 ай бұрын
@@CrispyImmy Just so we're on the same page, we're talking about the d/s front axle carrier bearing bracket, correct? If you have the ac compressor bracket bolted to the block, you don't have to worry about shimming it. When the ac compressor bracket is removed and you try to bolt the axle bracket, it leaves about .5-.75" gap for the d/s bolt because that bolt goes through the ac compressor bracket. Only the d/s bolt goes through the ac bracket whereas the p/s sits against the block. Make sense?

How much torque are you making? I was told from several places they can only rebuild trans with OEM parts 😭 how much power are you making?
@CrispyImmy
@CrispyImmy 8 ай бұрын
a lot.. lol, im kind of okay to turn things down now, since i have a stroker build, it makes more torque. I broke my last trans, and previous owner broke 2 or 3... so I gotta take it careful. Most of my trans is OEM parts and somewhat treated, but it won't make them stronger. I plan to dyno the car this summer/whenever car is back to 90%+ lol my guess is 400-500wtq

i heard if it's not a dogbox the gears aren't gonna hold more than 350 ft/lb of torque. Did they use stock 3rd and 4th gears?
@CrispyImmy
@CrispyImmy 7 ай бұрын
its stock, but the 90 gears which are known to be widest, gotta be careful regardless and depends how u drive. Im prolly around 350whp+ if anything will tone down the e85 map so i dont have too much power lol
@smokestrong1000
@smokestrong1000 7 ай бұрын
@@CrispyImmy Yeah I might drive mine until it blows up so I can justify spending 10k on a dog box. Probably just put it on a line of credit so I don't have to fork it over right away
@CrispyImmy
@CrispyImmy 7 ай бұрын
@@smokestrong1000 I have a stroker so it doesn't help, but id suggest not doing any low RPM pulls in 3rd/4th. Only do pulls if banging 2nd gear on so you start the gears in higher revs. Not worth taking out a LOC for car parts man, in the meantime tho u can save if youd like dogbox

Wait wait so you can remove the axle by just unbolting then lateral lower control arm from where it bolts to the front subframe ?

yep, hax that Reza @ dynotune suggested lol, but you'll have to make sure you pull it out so u don't hit the boot to the shock mount
