DO NOT SET TILE LIKE THIS, IF YOUR TILE GUY SETS TILE LIKE THIS FIRE HIM IMMEDIATELY!! It’s easy to do a hack job, hire a professional, pools require a mortar bed that’s called a “ brown coat” this makes the the beam straight and plum ! Tile in wet areas require a thin coat of thinset with 90% or more coverage. TOTAL HACK JOB

Dude man I was with ya till ya started putting one big spot in the middle of the tile. I’m not gonna jump all over you like everyone else has but you gotta at least scratch the entire back of the tile with thinset and lightly butter all four sides the length of the tile and use mud like marble set if it needs built out any. It’s a lot faster then cleaning all that thinset outta the grout joints is wasting it making a mess and slowing you down

Some of the comments on installing the tile, well theres gonna be haters and i totally agree that for the 6x6 tiles thats one way to do it. Tile gets full coverage on the back, after grout and motor. All Voids are filled with with grout between the tiles and underneath, plus a top motor bed that covers 3/8” and down in-between. We have been doing pool tile in fl for many years 30+ with this method and tiles do not just fall off. Thanks for the comments and views!

Are los tiles ceramic or porcelain ? Are they specific tiles for pools or any tile can be used on waterline

Im curious what the yellow is? Also why no brown coat or scratch coat? Is the yellow waterproofing?

I always start with either pouring the coping or setting the coping first. After the coping we browncoat the wall to make it straight then waterproof/install slip sheet below that coping then tile. Why do you tile first?

Looks like a Shotcrete shell…Wet gunned with a concrete pump, and a compressor.Stronger that gunite, and the plaster/pebble bonds better to Shotcrete vs gunite

Mate, good job till you started spot tiling. It literally takes 2 more seconds to get enough thinset on and have full coverage.

My builder did it this way, 8 months later I am redoing it totally different. the gaps behind the tile are just not professional. bedding them in mortar seals the gunite which otherwise will leak.

Completely wrong man! How does this guy sleep at night? Never do dollops of Thinset, do a burn in coat on the wall notch the Thinset with a notch trowel, and back butter the tile!

Once you find your high spot you subtract the tile size to get bottom of waterline.

Absolutely wrong way to install tilen your work keeps me in business. We call your kind hacks in the business. The good Ole pancake method. That entire pool will be ate up with effervescence in no time and that time will be falling off in a few years
