Just to make it easier for everyone, 21mm on the big bolts in the back, and bottom of the front, 5/8ths on the spring shackles, 3/4 on the top nut up front.

Thanks for this! I was hoping to see the info in the video or description. Video was well made none the less. I have 180k on my 2012 2500 Cummins and it's really freaky bouncy....lol Got the rears done in the dark with no problems. Will do the fronts when I have a few minutes before lunch tomorrow. I am also replacing the steering damper and adding an aftermarket steering box stabilizer. Might as well do it all while I'm down there, right?

Food for thought on any repairs with bolts that will not be removed for a long time. Apply Anti-Seize to the bolt... So the next time they may come off a little easier. I replaced my shocks without having to jack up the front.... Just makes it a little harder to push the shock and tower back down. Works better with two people. Good video

FYI. You're supposed to leave the plastic compression straps on the shocks so it makes installation ten time easier. Especially the rear shocks. I learned this by trail and error and reading the instructions. Great videos keep it up!

Another good thing to note is that, if you're like me and your compressor is too underpowered to run a decent impact wrench, the locking nut on the stem is an 18mm and the hex in the allen for holding stationary is a 6mm. I got mine all installed today. It was a heck of a job with the amount of rust on everything, but they look great now.

Great video I just changed mine with these bilsteins and it rides much better. For those going to change there’s, On the older trucks make sure you use penetration oil on all bolts front and rear. I recommend also using a jack to help compress the rear shocks or easier fitment.

I chucked my stock shocks at one week. My wife could easily compress them and she's not an Amazon. Thank you for a concise easy to follow tutorial. I'm in California and the shop I frequent has sold off all removed lightened parts and won't do them anymore after the Men in Black have raided shops here. Impossible to smog them here either.👎

I was thinking I was going to have to remove the batteries and battery trays to be able to get the shock towers out. Your video saved me a bunch of extra work. Thanks. One thing I would advise to those using the video though, check the torque specs for your year truck. The torque on the 2013 for the shock Tower bolts is only 35 not 55 and I found that out after I snapped one of them off and spent two hours drilling the son-of-a-gun out to replace it.

After watching this video I replaced the shocks on my Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins with the same Blistine 5100 .Watching the video made it much easier. For all of you asking if they make the Blistines for stock height they do - 0-2” lift , and others etc. I’m in Canada and we get screwed on the price of auto Parts . Even with a good discount at the auto parts store the Blistnes were 140.00 cdn I buy most of my stuff from rock auto because it’s so much cheaper 98.00 cdn.

When I saw you pull that shock out of the engine bay (no wheel removal) I was like - HELL YES - I am doing this LOL. The rear shocks SHOULD be easier unless the factory decided to install the top bolt in backwards, so that it cannot be removed (threaded portion pointing toward the spare tire and other end stuck between the frame) without cutting the bolt with a long blade and a saw-zall. Look for that when you do the rear, so you can prep for it and buy a set of bolts before starting the job.

does the front shock install work the same way for a 1500 to level the rake? or do you have to take the coils out from the bottom?

Do you need to get the truck aligned now?

If you've got the earlier "Y" style steering then it couldn't hurt. If you've got the later "T" style steering with the solid crossover bar it's not needed.

You left out the WORST PART OF THE JOB!!!!! Top bolt and how to remove it lol
@flopster843
@flopster843 3 жыл бұрын
Top bolt in the rear is a simple bolt/nut combo. Can be easily removed with a ratchet and wrench. Top bolt in front comes off with an impact and a deep well socket. If front Top is jammed, remove the support basket and take the entire thing out. The bolt will need to be cut off.
