Which exact model of dometic windo is that S5 or S4 ? As you can open that nearly to 90 degree up, mine S4 open about 45degree maximum.

great video. are the windows Seitz or Dometic. good job done and very useful tips on controlling the swarf from the cut.

thanks for reply. seems odd that you could not source the larger size of window in New Zealand. I think Seitz windows are made in Germany. They really are the best campervan windows. Reagards

Yeah the NZ distributor basically import a limited set of sizes, so to get anything different you would have to import them yourself. It’s because NZ is such a small market

How thick is the timber frame?

Shoot I can't remember - not very thick, just enough for what the window required.

Hi, I also have a transit and intend to install a Seitz window, please can you tell me what dimensions you made the wooden frame (in terms of thickness of the wood) I am unsure how many mm thick the steel is in the body work. Mine’s a MK7, whether that makes any difference :/ Thanks in advance :)

Yeah you're right - couldn't hold the camera and do it at the same time probably! although it's very easy once the hole and frame are in place - simply slide the two halves of the window together and screw them together. Use sealant on the outside window when placing that in the hole.

To much. Do not buy these windows. They are complete junk and expensive. I have 5 of them on my Northstar camper. One side winder just blew out by itself. Had to purchase a new one so they all match $1100 for one small window. Never again.When the next one goes I'll but custom made in the USA that are much better at half the price. I absolutely hate these windows and my rig is only a year and half old.

They’re not great quality but on the other hand they are the only ones I could find in NZ that were tinted and double glazed. I’d say they are OK but not great in my use for the past year. Bugs can walk around the edges of the screens, and the plastic handles are too small and plasticy. The German rigs often have very nice windows...
