Installing the Bak Revolver x4s on a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss. This is a very simple installation and the instructions are made very clear. I only had to make one 1/16th of adjustment to put slight tension on the seal against the tailgate as I mentioned in the video. Luckily we got a rain storm and checked for water intrusion and the bed was completely dry.
This cover has benefits of security and sturdiness of hard cover but the visual elegance of soft cover. It's extremely low profile where you can even tell there's a cover from the side of the truck.
I'm extremely happy with this tonneau cover!

I did mine on the Z71 a few weeks back. You ain’t kidding about those 4 front plastic hand nuts, awkward beyond belief! I may need to go back & check the torque on my bed rail clamps, yours looks smoother than mine. Thanks for posting!

Yea they were tuff and in awkward spots! And definitely double check they’re only at 10ft lbs of torque.

No reason those nuts cant just be regular nylok metal nuts that you can use a wrench on with the washer.

Great video, Joe! Just installed this on my '23 ZR2 and your walk-through was very helpful. Cover came with 2 broken plastic end caps so Bak packaging can use some improvement plus the caps are real thin and flimsy to begin with (they are sending me replacements). Definitely agree with what have you mentioned; with the X4S you get the look of a hard cover with the versatility to roll it up for full bed access without blocking your rear window. Question for you: Is your cover slightly raised where it meets the tailgate? Mine doesn't seem to sit completely flush against the top of the gate, there's maybe a 1/4" gap where I can see the rubber gasket along the whole width, especially at the corners. Yes, my end caps are currently broken but I don't think even with intact caps this would decrease the spacing. I did make sure the rails were flush against the cab and leveled everything out as I installed it so not sure if this is just a function of the design. Supposed to rain tonight so I guess I'll find out if any water is getting in. Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad my video helped you out. Mine does stick up too, however I realized this is due to the raised ruler on the tailgate not letting the cover come down flush. Mine is a 1/4” of space, but when it rains it’s completely sealed. In my opinion I think that ruler bulge helps the rubber seal close that gap. But it’s been no issue with mine! Water does get in at times but from the corners. This depends on the angle of the rain and if you’re driving while it’s raining. But it’s very minimal.

Thank you for sharing this video. I too want a cover for my TB. I looked at the reviews on Real Truck, many positive. Some complained about plastic hardware that breaks after a few weeks of use. Are you seeing this? Or, are you concerned about the quality or strength of some components?

Hey no problem! I love this cover. So far I haven’t had any concerns. There’s a plastic piece on the tailgate corners where one popped off but I think it’s cause it wasn’t clipped in 100% and ever since I haven’t had any issues at all. It feels very sturdy. No noise while driving. I took a 2hr and 45min trip (each way) with this and nothing has come loose or compromised. I did drive through rain and got very little water inside the bed but nothing unexpected. No cover is 100% waterproof. I strongly recommend this cover for both functionality AND aesthetically!

Does anyone have an opinion on the BakFlip MX4 vs Bak Revolver X4s? I have a 2023 Colorado as well and I'm torn on which one I should get. I like that the BakFlip can be left partially open but also recognize that it would block the back window if I have it fully open (not sure how much I care about that)

Just ordered the revolver today for my 23 canyon. At first I didn't like the concept but after much thought I see that it truly is the closest to the best of both worlds. Keeps bed space and doesn't block the rear window. Should be here in a couple days

Thanks! Yes, when the tailgate is locked, the cover is locked. The handle to open the conversation is inside of the bed, so if you can’t open the tailgate, you can’t open the cover. 👍

I believe I saw another video where someone installed a 22 hitch on the 23. It looks the same to be honest but I’m not 100% sure.

It is made of metal inside yes, and Bak claims that it will support up to 400 Lbs of weight evenly distributed.

@Mi4mi_joe OK, I want to get a good bed cover for mine, but I know the trifold blocks your back window. I kept seeing these but was worried it wouldn't be sturdy and I don't want something that's a material someone can cut up get into. So I'm guessing that tarp material (or whatever material is on the outside) is basically just a cover for the metal.

@@arragon5481 100% I was looking for the same thing. This is the benefit of a hard cover with the aesthetic of a soft cover. No one will be able to knife this open. And I can still see out my rear window with the cover rolled up. For me it’s the best of everything all in one. And you don’t lose any space inside the bed too.
