In this video I get a first version of the dry exhaust installed. There are a few tweaks I would like to make with regards to the flex joint at the engine and a new stack at the outlet end but it is a start.

Thanks for the video. Yep stuck at home. I reckon without a bit of flex pipe you'll be get a bit engine vibration transfering to the deck. Seems like you could almost use a few springs holding it at the deck fitting. Either way I'm sure you'll sort it. Now for another 136k pieces of advice. Nice ending, king parrot? Danger MArine. My father back in the day had a marine repair shop when I was a kid in Chicago near Belmont harbor. He had an issue like that as well on the slip joint/holder. He cut out the flats on the ring and installed/ tac welded four metal large engine valve springs into place, worked great, no noise and no further broken pipe.

I built two Cobra 427 kit cars and used the manifold heat wrap to help with engine room heat. The heat you eliminate in the engine room will be moved to the exhaust stack and it will get almost red hot under heavy loads. You must cover it soon or you will create a nasty spot on deck where severe burns are likely. The side pipes om my Cobras got so hot that I eventually took the wrap off. Enjoy your work ethic. It's a lot like mine in that getting the job done is more important than making everything beautiful when it isn't necessary.

You have done a great job with the exhaust, what a difference in space-saving between the new dry exhaust and the old wet exhaust. I believe your joint combined with the RTV and exhaust wrap will go the distance. I have rigged cars and motorcycles with similar joints and I have never had any significant leaks, and they never broke. I would triple-wrap your muffler all the way to the roof, It will significantly reduce the noise it makes. I also think a shroud would be a prudent addon.

In Iceland, testing was done on a random sample of the population. At least 50% of people who tested positive for Covid 19 were not symptomatic. A further 25% experienced only mild symptoms. Only 6% of patients required hospitalisation. Deaths, less than 0.5%.
@davidanderton2437
@davidanderton2437 4 жыл бұрын
@@jumpleadsx2 other countries are reporting 10 to 20% hospitalisation and of those hospitalised around 10% mortality. So a 1 to 2% mortality rate. The problem is when a few million people catch it at the same time and your healthcare system only has 1 spare bed per 1000 people. Now a lot the people that would have survived have died.

The “typical” flu virus in the US kills an average of 34,200 people every year. It hospitalizes 200,000, and there were 31.4 million confirmed cases for the 2018/19 flu season. When compared to the norm, there’s really no need to panic.
@Dan_C604

Buildin' Whatever yes, but there is a difference. The typical flu is a viral infection already being around for ages and modern humans have developed an immune system to it. The covid is new and we are not ready for that. Think of the flue for the natives in America. So, overreaction? We will see. In the mean time I don’t think you would expose to this virus so lightly, wouldn’t you?

Stu, you need to change the name of the boat to "Did not go to Plan". It would be the most appropriate boat name ever. I must have had that very same thought about 6 times already in my current boat project, fixing a leak in the aft head window. What started as "I'm going to re seal the frames to stop the leak" turned into, WTF where these previous owners thinking, and then morphed into a complete rebuild of the window, frame, bulkhead below window, cabinet frame! Did not go to Plan.

Stu, think about removing that circular clamp where the exhaust goes through the deck. You've got the exhaust well supported below deck, and all the deck clamp does is restrict the movement of the exhaust as the engine moves and vibrates, placing a strain on the joints in your exhaust piping. I also think you have your flex joint on the wrong end of the muffler. Consider putting it at the bottom of the muffler, closer to the engine, where the vibration and movement is. I very much enjoy your videos.

Thank you for the great videos Stu. Just wanted to chime in. I grew up on the water in the Bay of Fundy, and have watched the old man fix a lot of old wooden hulled boats. The exhaust pipes on the diesels were always completely wrapped. Right from the manifold all the way to where the pipe went up through the ceiling in the wheel house. As a kid being thrown around in rough seas I remember hugging the muffler to stop from being tossed around. It felt only warm to the touch, probably wrapped in asbestos considering it was used for everything back in the day. Just wanted to point out that muffler is going to get hot under full power, and someone will grab that thing. Love the project build. A lot of the exhausts had a flex pipe from the vertical piece to the horizontal piece and lasted well over 10 years. Hope this helps. All the very best to you.
