Jeep………….is another word for AR……… you can accessorize forever!! I love it! I found a Jeep at a local dealership last weekend. Price was good. I went there on Saturday test drove it, loved it! When we were talking cost, those jerks jacked the price up $5000.00 since I talked to them on Thursday evening and said I’d be there Saturday!!!!!!!!! Yes I was pissed!

I installed controller in to my JL a couple of days ago. Easy install and works great. However, I would like to see the relay panel more weather protected.

Where in the firewall do you run the wires on a manual transmission JL? Part of my clutch occupies the spot you used in this video!

Just installed these on a 2020 Sahara… to answer a few of the questions I see on here… Most lights come with a wiring harness. Sometimes there is an integrated relay or harness for lights (I.e. KC spot lights, integrated lights on an aftermarket bumper like barricade, etc). The hook ups have an integrated relay and fuse, so you can simply cut the harness, and connect directly to the mlc-6 box in the bay. You can definitely power up interior accessories as well, but you’ll have to route the wires from the engine bay and back into the interior of the vehicle. Someone mentioned they want accessories to turn off with the vehicle, which you can do but you would have to have some sort of larger relay that is essentially switched from some accessory in the vehicle. This may not be ideal for some, for example if you are camping, you may want the ability to have lights on while you’re setting up a tent in the night without turning your vehicle on. This does not have enough power to supply to a winch, which is why most winches have a disconnect which directly connects to the battery. You can get a large relay to connect to the mlc-6, instead of using a disconnect, but I’m not an expert… in theory it should work, but a winch seems to me like it’s worth the “hassle” of keeping a manual disconnect. Overall it is a great product, but as others mentioned it would be nice to have a better weatherproofing for ALL the connections, especially the supplied harnesses. The only gripe I have is that the lower mount for integrating into the dash had some noticeable gaps with the trim, but once installed you couldn’t really notice it. Great mod in my opinion and if you need more detailed instructions, I would recommend having a professional installing it. Get everything you want installed in one go, so the installation can all be done at once… it’s definitely easiest to route the wiring if you have more access to the vehicle such as on a lift especially for rear mounted lights.

RC did not take into consideration a Jeep with manual transmission. The grommet used to fish the wiring harness through the firewall is taken up by the clutch system. Epic fail on the part of RC! Either you have to dig out the battery, tray, fuse box, aux battery and poke a hole through the existing rubber grommet on the passenger side (good luck) or, fish the wiring harness up and behind the gauge cluster, out and through the windshield and its foam insulation, down the cowl, through the hood foam and along the AC plumbing.

My question is do you have any solutions for labeling the switches? These switches would be great if they were blank white for the LED light that comes through them and then a bunch of stickers to put over them that let the LED light through to show the label of what you want. Also you don't go into detail about the fuse tap and how you get it to fit in the fuse panel. Looks like I have to make a hole in the housing or something to get the wire to come how. When making install videos you really need to do the most difficult types and go over any variations that might arise. just mho

I was hoping to see him connect the DRL lights. I have DRL pods and light bar but concerned how to actually wire to the MLC6

Not a fan of the gaps in the actual plate for switches. I thought mine was defective- but now after watching this video again I can see the gaps in this as well. wish they made just a slight better alignment.

Will you run your winch off the MLC-6? I picked up the Universal MLC-6 for my Ram and RC's Light bars and cube lights. I just don't know where to mount the switch panel inside the Ram.

Will I be able to connect other devices besides lights? For example, I was hoping to rub on board air compression and a winch both activated through the aux switches

So you didn’t actually hook up the pods. Not sure how they hook up to the controller.

I've seen aftermarket switches put into the mlc-6, like jet fighter switches. Can I use just any switch or should I look for something more specific? Thx!

why do the rocker switch lights stay on blue when there is no power? I'm sure it's a small amount of current but still kinda freaks me out that it stays on when the Jeep is totally off. (2015 JK- in stalled this same MLC-6 Switch)

I have a MANUAL 2018 JL and the instructions and videos do not take into account Jeeps with manual transmission. I called RC’s 800 number to ask for a resolution and was told to, “figure it out.” Why am I paying $200+ for a part I need to figure out for myself? Can I get someone from RC to respond with answers?

You describe connecting the drl pods white to white and black/blue together for both but you dont show where they are connected on the MLC-6. You just say under and into where the screw is?? Is the power lead ran elsewhere?

Why in the world did they label all 5 switches "RC"? 1-5 or A-E or generic symbols would of been SO MUCH BETTER.

One 50 amp CB to supply system, 6 40 amp capable relays, 6 30 amp fuses, need to be careful how many high amp devices you use at the same time I guess. Can't use more than 50 amps at any one time? I like it but don't have a jeep to put it in so the universal kit for me.

I was thinking of this as well. I think that these days a lot of folks are just running LED light systems and those draw low current. But yeah., I was wondering how this box could be used (for instance) old skool KC Daylighters etc.

Hey Lee, I have a manual and here is how I did it Prep Work: Remove the knee bolster below steering wheel Remove the driver side (top) dash grill and speaker Remove the driver side cowl Lower the windshield Installation: Run a wire snake down the speaker cutout to the floor Tie off the connector which plugs into the control box in the engine Slow/steady pull the cabling up and behind the gauge cluster and out the speaker hole - just enough so you can now grab it with your hand You lowered the wind shield to expose a small gab between the top of the dash and the rubber seal for the wind shield Carefully pull down on the rubber and run the cable under the dash There will be a thick piece of foam. Gently pull that away from the car and run the cable under that as well. To ensure no pinching, you need to run the cable through the section of the wind shield cut out for the hinge Pull up as much cabling as you need to reach the MLC control box then carefully raise the wind shield but don't secure it yet Run the cabling under/through the foam that is under the hood Secure the connector to the MLC control box Using zip ties, connect the wires to the AC plumbing I wish I could post pictures but this is the best way I can describe/explain how to run the cabling for a manual Jeep.
