You got it done nicely without a group of engineers standing around as well.

That thumb came out fantastic. Can’t wait to see it in the field! Glad you liked the Arcapton

I'm one of those guys who has been waiting to see this. That looks like a real bad mama for a thumb. I guess I didn't expect it to be as wide as it is. I love it. It's going to be awesome to watch working.

You guys sure put that thumb on a lot faster and easier than Mike did without all the non workers standing around like a state job. Well done gentleman and you sure can hold a long arc without stopping every 2” to reset your hand.

Thank you....yeah I like to hold a arc as long as I can as I can especially if I'm welding up a fuel tank or oil tank less starts and stops mean less leaks

Makes me miss welding. You did an outstanding job with your welding. That was my first full time 2nd shift job my junior and senior years of high school and a year and a half after graduating as a certified Ironworker welder till I went off to Coast Guard boot camp and ended up an Aviation Machinist Mate. After my enlistment was up I ended up becoming an amusement vending equipment mechanic/electronics tech. I still used to weld a bit at my church but had to stop when I had a defibrillator/pacemaker installed.

I was an award winning welder in high school and did a great deal of welding and fabrication on the farm for 30 years after that. I left the farm and have not had a welder for 20 years now. I have felt like a part of me was missing. I recently bought a shop and have purchased a simple welder. I cant wait to get in there and build something. You cannot be a complete person without welding skills.

Thank you I appreciate that...you may not be able to weld anymore but you can give us young guys some pointers!

Absolutely no doubt that the new quick change unit is going to make it a whole lot nicer changing buckets on jobs that requires multiple buckets. No more pulling pins then trying to get the them back in which is usually a 2 man job. Time is money as they say 😊

Is it okay to watch the video while welding is taking place. I’m so impressed with your knowledge of the workings of the excavators.

Can’t believe you where able to work on the thumb after eating at Long John Shitters.

Enjoyed yer video installing the new thumb. Suggestion I might make an old timer showed us a long time ago on yer MIG welder between yer wire spool and where it goes into the gun lead to fold a scuff pad in two and clamp a clothes pin on it to wipe the wire clean. Been doing it for 40 years now and I truly believe it helps.

I will have to give that a try thank you!

Looks good but welding downhill ain't good penetration lol
@dirtgrainsteel4 ай бұрын
It's plenty of penetration to hold one on have torn one off yet plus the actual stress point really is the pin through the stick....I know what you mean though the up hill down hill debate
