In the process of moving into a house we had to do something about the lighting in the finished basement. It's all can lighting...I HATE Can Lights.
The previous owners installed whatever light bulbs they felt like installing. There were several different shapes of bulbs and 3 different temperature lights.
I didn't want to redo the entire lighting in the basement, but I came across these WiFi connected LED light kits for Recessed lighting. They're made by Phillips and you can control the temperature and brightness of one, two, three or all the lights (I installed 15 lights) via an app.
These are a great option if you're looking for an alternative to can lights that are already installed in your house. I'm pretty sure I could teach a 5 year old how to install these things. After doing one or two, you should be able to swap out each light in less than a minute.
