Hi, Great video! Amazing job doing such a tidy installation into your existing lawn. One thing that wasn't mentioned was the application rates of the sprinklers. As you are using rotor sprinklers, the 90 will apply double the amount of water per cycle when compared to the 180, as it only has to rotate half the distance before returning back to its start location. You can minimise the effect of this using the supplied nozzles. Try doubling the nozzle size for the sprinklers with twice the arc size for a more even watering. For example, use the number 1 nozzle for the 90 and the number 2 nozzle for the 180.

I’ve spent countless hours doing the maths behind all this before doing an installation. Typical water is 28l/min @ 3.1 bar in my area (Yorkshire) but I can’t believe how much the water the claber pop up sprinklers use at 13l/min when there fully open at 360 degrees when running 3 bar to them. No wonder you struggled with the water flow. I’ve purchased the Rainbird 1800 with the HE-Van nossles, they throw 4.6m @ 2.1bar which I’ve bought the pressure regulated pop up sprinklers so I don’t have to manage the pressure. They still gobble up 14l/min though at 360 degrees. But I have a triangle shaped lawn on the front of my house that’s south facing and I hate having to water it 2 times a day in the summer. 2 would be fine but I’m putting a 3rd just to cover every inch enough. So it should realistically only use 7l/min

would it have been worth linking all the sprinklers together in a loop then T off to the pump to ensure even pressure rather than a feed in feed out. really impressed with the outcome and thank you

Yes I believe you probably could do that.

Brill, I have the claber system but haven't installed yet as they seem very leaky! May go for this system instead. Looking at doing a similar thing with a water butt source and mains back-up. I found a system called RainAid RA20 which might allow you to run off a mix of rainwater and mains

Hi, thanks for this very useful. Did you calculate how water this used in a 10-minute run? I'm trying to calculate how much water storage I need to feed my lawn before purchasing everything
@DIYJourney1
@DIYJourney1 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Iv never calculated it, however id estimate based on what each sprinkler can use to be 100-120L for 10mins.

@@DIYJourney1 Thanks for the response, I thought you said in the video you were going to see how much it used out of the water butt in the 10 mins. I have about 400m2 including an area with a big tree which seems to suck all the water out of the lawn. Thinking of getting a 1000l tank but no idea how long it will last

I possibly did over a year ago. My 250l water butt does not empty on a 20minute run time.

Cool setup, I'm doing exactly the same with the waterbutts, I have the drainpipe hooked to it but unsure on how to sort the tap supply to fill it if it's not rained in a while, have you come up with a solution for this yet

Thank you, I am using one of these: www.freeflush.co.uk/products/quickstop-advance-float-valve?variant=8268746555479&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqPGUBhDwARIsANNwjV43oaCw3RYFSlgasXoXQc9AkGLoApDYgkgZbOdVPba4vBnruYy5sawaAlVtEALw_wcB However, not done anything further to integrate. My thoughts are to have two butts, one filled with rain water and one from tap, then have them connected with a non return valve

Excellent job mate. How did the Rainbirds fit onto the Claber attachments? Did you have to do any adjustments? I'm about to install the Claber system, but could swap out the sprinklers to Rainbirds, if straightforward enough? Cheers pal

If i remember correctly the fittings are 1/2” so I just bought 1/2” RainBird sprinklers and they went straight on 👍🏻

I take it you were fitting the top of the sprinkler head touching the bottom of the spirit level? Do you notice the sprinkler heads on the lawn? Have you had any issues with them getting covered in soil or grass or not being able to force themselves up?
@DIYJourney1
@DIYJourney1 17 күн бұрын
Thata correct, well slightly below the spirit level. No issues at all, and you cant see the sprinkler heads, I couldn’t find one of them the other day to adjust, had to turn them on to find

Just got my order and set up the system, as you’ve had yours set up for a while can I ask if the water that comes out and around the pop up at start/finish effects the grass around this area ? Many thanks.

Hi, I have the Gardena Smart 19030-20. Although I think this may be an older one. They also do the 19040-20 which I think is the new one. Iv found the border to be fine, reason I did, was just so I wasn’t constantly removing it for cutting the grass.
