Solid deal. Only gave up the late 1st and dumped Korpi with only 25% retained. This is a win for the Sens!!

@@FullSweatTryhard no source needed, but decades of following how these things usually play out, makes it a damn good educated guess. Plus, he can't sign until July 1, so I won't be concerned unless the season starts without an extension in place. Considering what ottawa gave up, even if he is a one year rental, the price isn't high considering they got Korps included in the deal. He is a negative asset

@@scottmiller8617 I agree. One year of Ullmark is better than getting trapped in Korpi's contract. Kastelic was on the way out anyways and that 1st is not top 10. Tidy work in my opinion.

It was a good trade for the Sens, but I don't think it was bad for Boston. They got a first rounder in a very deep draft, a goalie that is destined to bounce back (after all he just left the Sens) and Kastelic, who is going to fit like a glove in their system. Besides, I doubt that they had any plans to keep Ullmark.

Korpi is a good goalie, the Sens problem is their D. Ullmark won’t change much. You watch Korpi shine with Boston like Talbot did with LA. Our D is horrific. The only good D we have is Sanderson, that’s it

Their D zone play actually improved a lot last year, but the goaltending was horrid. They desperately need a top 4 right shot dman. Zub is the only quality one they have

I'm glad Staios put the Sens front and center before game 7. Good for us! But unless we get better holding (defensive) defensemen it will be only slightly above Koripsolo. Plus we need to remember he's been platooning for a while now he needs to carry the pail. But this is smart by Staios, Ullmark was not feeling good about an extension in Boston. I still feel like Koriposolo could have gotten a bit more. I like Kastalic but in MLB terms I sure someone can be wins above replacement. And thank God no picks to Boston other than the original one. If Ullmark is good in theory the DeBrindcat trade looks a bit better.

How in the FUCK did Staios convince Sweeney to take on Korpisalo? 😱 I know there’s retention, but it’s only 25% ($1m). I’m fucking ecstatic right now!! Tanev is too old and Ehlers is a luxury, not a need. The focus now should only be right shot dmen. Shore that up before worrying about forwards. Greig and Pinto have room to improve, and depending on how things go in court, Formenton is still a possibility to return on a cheap deal(it is unlikely but not impossible). If they go for a winger, I'd prefer a physical third liner that excels defensively.

Ottawa absolutely fleeced us, grats on Ullmark, we loved him, please take care of him. i can promise you we will not be giving Korpisalo a warm welcome here. He truly isnt wanted and is just wasting cap on our roster, and the player probably wont make it out of training camp. Absolute masterclass by our dumbass GM, Staios must have some dirt on Sweeney, but then again hes always been terrible with trades so maybe every gm has dirt on ours

The bruins are as much cup contenders as the leafs are, doesn’t mean much if you don’t get past the first/second round. Is he better than Chiarelli? Of course; an empty chair would be better, does he make smart decisions? Absolutely not, we constantly over pay for journeymen hockey players and rely on them to pick up the scoring when our only 2 productive forwards go through droughts. The 25th for Ullmark was more than enough. We’re giving Ottawa a star goalie (a divisional rival let me remind you) and freeing them from a shitty contract unmovable contract and all we got was an AHL player, 1 mill in cap space more, a worse backup that we can’t get rid of, and the 25th overall pick in a weak draft year. Brilliant

Nope! You would’ve had to buy out korpi or trade a first to get rid of that contract. In the end you basically traded kastelic for ullmark. Huge win regardless if he resigns. Worst that could happen is you flip ullmark at the trade deadline for more then you paid for him.

This is so big. Say what you will about sens defense being bad, but korpisalo let in way way WAY too many weak goals. Cost us too many games being sub 900. Yes ullmark is probably not gonna be the demon he was in Boston, but he's an absolute upgrade

I thought we’d be paying a first to dump Korpi & his contract and I would’ve been okay with that… worst starter in the league! Hahaha what a deal! Vezina winner in his goalie prime is a hell of a cherry on top. I’m a Kastelic fan, but god damn, good bye & good luck man 😂😂
