2nd biggest city in France, Lyon. The club has a huge stadium (40000) formerly used by the football team. It's a very big project, the owner GL events know what they are doing. They don't sign superstars, they, for now, want to keep the team cohesive. About 15000 people average. Close to €40 million budget. They won the Challenge cup 2 years ago. They still miss a little something to be at the very very top but You might wake up one morning and Lyon is the biggest rugby club in the world.

It's a long season across two competitions. Three if you include the currie cup. It's physically impossible to play your best team every week. They'll be dead half way through the season

Teams select the B team for away games. They rest players and accept the loss. In each pool, 4 of the 6 teams will go through to the knockout so the strategy is 1- Don’t be in the bottom 2 positions, 2- rotate players for the long term goal. The Northern hemisphere season is a mess and until it changes, this is what will keep happening.

@@pretoriarider7462 Super Rugby is a great competition. Good, straight forward, uninterrupted format. Here in the NH, there are 3 domestic leagues (Eng Prem, URC, Top 14) that run for 6 months and in the middle we have a lousy international competition (6 nations) which is sandwiched by the European Cup. Teams and players don’t know whether they are coming or going. It’s terrible for the quality of the game. I think it’s great to have SA domestic teams play European teams but if the travel and format aren’t conducive to quality Rugby then what’s the point.

Shows you what happens when a teams management is useless and corrupt. The Blue Bulls use to be a strong team with money. Today they can not even afford to pay for decent players. That is why they end up with a team like this. They have to pay retired players to play for them just for the show.

@@bradleypenrith Thanks for this lesson in rugby. So what you are saying is that the Bulls went into this game to lose. Now I understand the empty stands. Who wants to pay to go and watch a game where the opponent goes into the game planning to lose. I also do not know who and where you were raised but I was told that a man who starts getting personal in an argument/discussion show a lack of upbringing and IQ. So I will keep that in mind when I process your comment.

@user-mkru The south African teams have to manage their players over 3 competitions (URC, Champions cup, Currie Cup). You cannot playe your 1st team every single weekend for onvious reasons.
