Bob Sapp wasn’t being cocky in the first fight, he was being a showman. Sapp WAS an actual beast during his early time in Pride. He was fighting and beating some of the best fighters in the world. His freakish size and performance in Pride made him a HUGE celebrity in Japan. His fight with Cro Cop changed all of that. Cro Cop hit Sapp with a liver shot, followed by a left hand that shattered his orbital bone. Basically from that point on, Sapp would play the part during the lead up and shell up, as soon as his opponent hit him with ANYTHING. During the last 2/3 of his career he had 3 (phony) wins and 18 losses. Sapp was paid for his name, which was all you got. Plus a wasted roast chicken, flex and cringe, evil villain voice.
