Adam "Theflikfreak" gets all "biopic" this week with the release of "Back To Black," the latest retelling of Amy Winehouse's true story of amazing talent and amazing tragedy. But is it all too safe and neat? #moviereviews #filmcriticism #cinemarelease #filmreviews #instantmoviereview #movie #eventcinemas #amywinehouse #back-to-back #filmsof2024

I’m a filmmaker and read all books on Amy. This movie was enjoyable, it’s more targeted at teen girls though, because it is about love mostly. But I anticipated a more ruthless Christian F style thing and really wanted to see some hardcore scenes from Taylor James book.

Why is Sam Taylor Johnson still aloud to make films?!! Her track record is abysmal

I knew few friends in common with Amy so I knew her before and after the fame, her family was awful to her, they are the reason she is not around us anymore, she became their cash cow and still is , she was very sweet and she needed a good support system around her because that level of fame was extremely distressing for her, but like it happen with those superstars that died young, they are surrounded by vampires that will do whatever the star ask so the money can keep coming regardless the state of the person, the reason I won’t watch the film because is more on the pocket of her terrible father that did nothing but exploit his daughter success

Great comments and yes...this did feel like some members of the family were trying to push a very different agenda than the truth.

Simply not true, her family tried to help her on a number of occasions. She refused rehab a few times. No one could force Amy to go, addicts can only get help when they admit they have a problem and genuinely want help. Amy gave up drugs and got clean, she was clean for 3 years. The problem was she swapped one addiction of drugs for another in the form of alcohol. It was Blake who introduced Amy to drugs, it wasn't her family, who are still grieving to this day. That being said, I will not go to the cinema to watch the movie, just in the trailer alone I have seen inaccurate portrayals and made up scenes.

@@DavidJames-ro2bl well I know people that knew her her whole life and I met many people that knew her intimately and they all have the same opinion, but you know best of course

@@TIVOSTUDIOS of course you do, someone on the Internet says they knew a famous person, must be true. Even if that's the case tho, you literally said "all have the same opinion" literally an opinion.

I was hoping it was more cutthroat, less cheesy & shows what Amy truly struggled and went through, sort of “Lady sings blue” movie Diana Ross made for Billie Holiday but knew todays Cinemas are too sensitive to put out such a film. But anything Amy I will support to keep her legacy! I’ll still go check it out.

( 3:08 ) Two studio albums, and one posthumous album in 2011, but it feels like there should be more!😢

I adored Amy Winehouse & will NEVER forget the day she died.....I wept for days & I still tear up when listening to her songs💔 I went to the cinema to see 'Amy' in 2015....most of the cinema cried for her - it was so moving and I felt it was appropriately respectful to Amy & her legacy. It laid bare those who failed her (yes, Amy was self-destructive, but at her age what the hell does anyone expect - she was put into situations that no one should be forced in to.) I WILL NOT BE GOING TO SEE THIS DISRESPECTFUL CHARADE! I get the actress wanted to 'be' Amy, but to even try to be a 'karaoke Amy' is beyond belief! Amy's voice was SO unique - literally one of a kind that we'll never see again in our lifetime. Amy was bold, unapologetic, unfiltered, raw, passionate, stylish, 'lost' & vulnerable, but with THAT VOICE she blew the world away - singing was like breathing to her - everything about her was so ICONIC! She would've been so offended with an actress imitating her voice & a 'film' portraying a bland, diluted version of her life. Amy was a dichotomy and Asif Kapadia's film captured the essence of her soul. R.I.P. sweet Amy - we miss you💔

The Bohemian Rhapsody inaccuracies were so much worse in comparison but yeah they tried to paint it in a more positive light although yeah, off the back of performances, it’s pretty good. Although biopics are biopics and nowhere near as factual as documentaries just like Bob Marley: One Love, which only told a small fraction of his story, not the full story. If you want a good quality biopic, watch Control about Joy Division’s Ian Curtis 🔥

Hello. There is some language, drug use and brief nudity. To be honest, it's all pretty tame and all depictions of drug taking are very brief and not explicit. The film is MA+15 in Australia so it just depends how you feel about rating systems.

I seen the movie. Yes it was safe. From interviews and footage i have seen amy give. She played amy very well. But did not capture her to essence or her personality to perfection? Amy was a lot rougher around the Edges. And there was nothing wrong with that, Amy was amy what you seen is what you got from her.. And i loved her for that.she was a ticking time bomb. And there was no way anyone was going to stop her not even her parents or her nan. My dad was an alcoholic. My brother and cousin both died young from alcohol. So i could relate to amys story. And i suffered as a result of alcohol. Any assocation with alcohol is devastation on everyone involved the whole family not just the alcholic.. So thats where judgment should be focused on, not on amy? she was just a human being like us all.. And yes we all make mistakes in life.. But some of us pay with our lives. R. I. P. Amy..
