Do you want to see the instant transformation when using the Pearlescent Paints? Well - in this creation you can! You see instant results and the colors are amazing as they dry. This is a DRY swipe using a sponge brush.
Thank you so much for joining me today and remember to hit that LIKE button if you enjoy what I do. It helps me reach more people across KZfaq who might also like my process and the creation tutorials I share.
******************************************************************************************
▶▶▶More about this Tutorial ▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶ ▶▶ ▶
▶ Technique: Dry Swipe
▶ Canvas size: 12x16 inches
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with a Pouring Medium for all techniques unless otherwise stated in the video. The ratio I use is 1:3:1 Paint/Medium/Water. I use Floetrol/Owatrol for my medium. For those creations that I use water only (again I will say so in the video so please watch the full video for more details) Water only creations use the ratio of 1:1 paint to water.
▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam: Lamp Black (Base Color)
Amsterdam Pearlescent Paints: Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Violet, White.
My Pearlescent Guide can be purchased here: / shop
▶ Hair dryer: When I use a hair dryer I use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting and the lowest blow speed.
Time stamps:
There are hints, tips and knowledge sharing throughout the video! So stay tuned throughout to get full advantage of the process and information.
00:03 - Welcome and Concept
01:03 - Preparing the base (sponge)
03:49 - Layer the paint on the canvas
06:32 - Close up of canvas
07:05 - Dry Swipe with Sponge

Mark, you made me laugh today with the foam sponge brush tongue twister. Just what I needed. I also love what you have created with the foam brush. Its like a beautiful sky or northern lights are reflecting in the ocean. Fantastic. Well done. I also love that you explain everything you do in a calm and detailed way. I love to watch you creating stunning pieces of art, learning from you and reminding me to be mindful. Thank you. X 😊

What is gesso and why do you use it?
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt 4 ай бұрын
Gesso can be used to protect and enhance surfaces such as canvas, paper, wood and board -making them less absorbent and smoother. If you plan to use oil or acrylic paints on any absorbent surface, you should apply gesso before doing so. Most canvases I get are already primed but I use gesso if painting over a painting too
