Thank you very much. Wonderful opportunity to hear an instrument I have read so much about. Thank you all for bringing the instruments to life, that is , to music. I am Brazilian

I could listen to ALK give a talk on anything -- he's crazy knowledgeable and it's obvious how much he loves what he's talking about.

I was reading 1st Samuel and he was anointing Saul's head with oil to be the first king of the Israelites. Anyway, Samuel told Saul that going on his way he would meet a man plucking a psaltry and I had no idea what that was. I had to look it up and you did an awesome job plucking away. This is awesome they had such instruments back then.

Beautiful version of Rosa das Rosas! I own a similar Psaltery about the same size as yours . The difference is , it has 16 double strings. I"m not sure What the best tuning is . are the lowest stringst uned in a chord or is it a continiuus diatonic scale ?
@gerardvila46852 жыл бұрын
Don't know about best tuning, but at 00:40 he shows a manuscript with a tuning. It's diatonic C-g, with an extra G in the bass: G C D E F G a b c d e f g.

thanks for your question! This particular instrument was built by Colin Booth in England, but he no longer makes them. However, you can fin them at the Early Music Shop, under Dulcimers and Psalteries: earlymusicshop.com/collections/dulcimers-and-psalteries
